Ubuntu installation on a windows 7 machine

I downloaded Ubuntu to install it on my machine, which currently has windows 7. I want to dual boot of course. It became clear to me that Ubuntu made it too easy for such a thing. However, I had a problem. When you start the installation and choose you want to install Ubuntu alongside windows, the installation doesn't detect my main drive which is a Raid 0 array. I have two velociraptors in RAID 0 and that's where I want to put Ubuntu on. The space is more than enough for two OS's. It also doesn't give me the option to load a driver or something like that.

Is there a way? I can install Ubuntu in one of my storage drives, but that's not what I want.

Although installing Wubi to RAID is not officially supported there have been reports of users who have done so successfully. This has not been thoroughly tested and users who experience problems with installing to RAID should address their concerns on the Ubuntu Forums. Additionally, users who have computers with software RAID metadata, where the RAID has not enabled, may need to delete the RAID metadata before installing Wubi.

Why a wubi install? The last time I checked (a few years ago) there were a few significant downsides to a wubi install. Have you tried to install using the CD from boot?

Do a proper installation of Ubuntu. The wubi installer is akin to giving it a test drive.

Oh yeah, I figured that now. But the main Ubuntu downloads page makes you think it is the best and only choice. I noticed how much easy and straightforward it was and became worried. I just wanted to do it the normal way. Sometimes these super easy methods just don't cut it.

I installed Red hat and (Suse) I think long before along with windows. Didn't really have issues.

Thanks folks. If I encounter a problem, I'll come back.
