Is this auction site selling stuff just from vendors/distributors? How can they make money off this site?

I saw a good price for a motherboard there, for $53. This board sells for $200 everywhere else and no one is bidding on it. This is a brand new board that was just released a few months ago! If only one person bids on it and wins at $53, how are companies making money? Is there a catch to this site?

Sometimes stuff sells for crazy high prices, other times for crazy low prices. :) I got some sweet stuff for really cheap from there. And then some people have paid up to 2 or 3 times as much for the same stuff.

ubid usually kills you with shipping.
and most of the stuff for auction is refurb. other stuff have no warrantee. so I wouldn't suggest buying electronics from there.

yes, sometimes thier shipping is ridiculously high, but if you factor in the price most people pay, you still get a good deal. a motherboard will probably cost you $10 for shipping

i find that most of their stuff is new and carries the manufacture's warentee, just make sure you read the description carefully and understand what you are getting.

i have bought many things from them, eletronics included and have yet had a problem with them. just this month i got a md player, gf2 gts and a yamaha scsi burner. the md and vid card have arrived aready and are working fine, both were new items.

Yeah, I saw some monitors selling for like $23 there, 19 inchers too. They weighed quite a bit, and shipping was 99 cents/lb. This was ontop of the $6.95 "packing fee"

They give away those $100 gift certificates is why bidding is so high. I bought a cheap used RadioShack sound mixer for $90+$10 shipping, just using my GC. The only stuff I see being sold there is like 10x price.

I got a good deal on a Sharp ViewCam at Ubid, but I also got a Denon car CD player that turned out to be a cassette player---they screwed up the auction description. They described the item as a CD player, which I won for about 90.00, but when I received it it was actually a cassette player and it took them almost a month to refund the charge. Their customer service SUCKS.
