Pro's and Con's between the two? Never used either of them before, but will be using one of them this coming weekend. Short trip, 22-23 miles, if you know short means in urban context. Straight Interstate highway shot. Just me. No baggage.

Just use whatever is cheaper. It's pretty much the same. If it's first time, there are new customer coupon codes you can use.

Use whichever is surging less.

Lyft provides a tipping mechanism within the app, Uber does not.

Uber has more classes of service than Lyft.

Lyft you don't need to carry cash at all.

What with all the Uber and Lyft threads lately ? We need our own Uber/Lyft forum!

I've never used either but from news I read it seems like Uber is a scumbag-y company and I don't want to give them any money.

This reply suggests cash is a requirement for Uber. Why?

if you don't carry cash, you can't tip on Uber's platform, which means you can't/won't tip and probably resemble Hitler.

It's hard to separate companies from their politics & products; same with celebrities (MJ, Bill Cosby, even Tiger Woods). Uber offers a nice service, but their politics. are. ridiculous. Have you read the latest??

https://www.engadget.com/2017/04/23/apple-ceo-threatened-to-drop-uber-app/

Reportedly, the ridesharing outfit had been "fingerprinting" iPhones with permanent identities so that it could prevent drivers from cheating by creating fake accounts and accepting rides from these bogus customers. The IDs would last even after the app was deleted or the entire phone was wiped.

That's some NSA level type of scary right there :grimacing:

Calling them scumbag-y is a borderline compliment.

I probably pay 20% more for Lyft rides than what Uber would cost, but I don't need rides very often and I gladly vote with my wallet when the choice is so clearly obvious. Uber has had about as much bad news in 2 months as some companies get in a half century (or ever). I'd already made up my mind a couple years ago when the facts were way less damning.
