I had the same dilemma. In the end, over twice the price and no where near twice the performance, went with the 4200. :)

Is there anyone that got one of these with the 64 crushes the 128 sticker on it and still got a 128 card. That was the only one left here where I live. Thanks!

I went to the Bellevue Wa BB store today and picked up one of these...
The outer package has the label showing the 3DMark test for 64 mb vs 128 mb boards, the upc# is 5149221937,
but upc sticker on the board is 5149222316. UPC sticker shows assemply # GF4TI4200AGP8X.

Heatsinks on one side of the board only. Interesting thing about the upc sticker on the back of the board, its barely attached

The board boots up showing 128 meg of ram, win xp shows 128 also!!!!!! yeeehaaaaa!!! price was $79.99
plus tax. last one in stock. Called 3 other stores, all out of stock on the 64 meg boards, some said they
expected new inventory in the next day or two, but who knows.

thanks to the original poster, awesome deal

Well I compared them in my system and with FSAA disabled, and I get near I identical performance with the 9500 running 360/300 and the ti4200 280/600.

With 4x FSAA turned on here are the results its a much different story.

Now the question is: "Is FSAA worth $100?"
I was SURE when the ti4200 costs $125 while Radeon 9500np was $150- "yes worth $25!!" but now at "$100" I don't know!!!

<~~I'm banging my head on the wall on this one:p

Ok this may provide hope for the people who are in an area that the card is $169. I did some work calling around a verifying the $79 price in other markets. Pretty simple work. I then asked a BB CSR why I can't just have my local Best Buy price match the other stores that have the lower price? The response was that they are in different markets and therefore prices would be different and that it wasn't policy to match other BB stores out of your area. I figured that was well enough. However I REALLY would like a new card, I'm currently on a GF2 MX, so I emailed BB.com and asked wtf was up with the lame pricing policies by not matching their own store. Here is what I got.

Quoted from my email from bb.com Customer Care:
As you may know, Best Buy offers a price match guarantee to protect customers from sudden price drops. If within 30 days (14 days for computers, computer peripherals, radar detectors, camcorders, and digital cameras) of your purchase, you find the same product offered at a lower price, we will refund that difference plus another 10% of the difference.

This offer is good on new, factory sealed, products of the same brand and model that are available in-stock at any other local authorized retailer. If the lower advertised price is a Best Buy price, within the product return time frame, you will receive an adjustment for the lower price during the advertisement time frame.

So I assume all we have to do is pick up the card at $169, and run to customer service, have the phone number and store number of another store that has the product at the lower price and give the info the the CSR, have them call and verify and take the difference off the price.

$169 - 79 = $90 difference
$90 x 1.10 = $99 price match
$169 - $99 = $70 + tax!!

I hope this helps all of us who thought we were stuck w/o getting in on this deal!!!!

PM me if you want me to forward a copy of the entire email I recieved from the BB rep.

GOOD LUCK!

Er, cvstrat, Best Buy won't give you the extra 10% of the difference if it's an internal price adjustment.

Funny that they won't price match....all you need to do is use one of their bestbuy.com computers and it comes up $79. Anyone that wants to get in on at least the 64MB for $79 deal can go to Bestbuy and order it online in the store.

I did :)
Most definitely. Its considerably faster than a GF3; basically allows you to run at a higher resolution with max details.

order it online in the store... almost sounds like an oxymoron :p Anyway, I stopped by the Chelsea BB in Manhattan and placed the order through their terminal there. Site shows as 169 but once added to cart it shows up as $79. Comes to about $86 after tax for me. Last known status on order was "In process", I hope this gets through *crosses fingers*

I stopped by the Chelsea BB in Manhattan at 11am, and I saw 3 cards so I took 2 of them with a $19AR netgear router.

yes, and there comes the restocking fee (i believe)

hehe you could return it after 30 days and get a newer one or the same one again and just return them for ur money back when a new one comes out :)

Every other day some smarta$$ thinks he just discovered a way to beat the system like that.

You can't do that, because once you are flagged having habitually returned it too many times, they will refuse to do this for you any more.

This is why they often ask for your ID at the return counter, smarta$$.

Several of us do not have a BestBuy in our area.

Would anyone be kind enough to scan in a recipt
of the product purchased for $79?

I have a CC / OM / OD / Staples that I would like to try
and PM against.
