No, but its definitely the way to go if you have a flat panel LCD. If you use dual-display with 2 CRTs, you will need a DVI to VGA adapter for the 2nd CRT.

Thanks, problem is I am getting no display when using the VGA out. I don't own a DVI Monitor or a DVi-VGA adapter so I cannot test out the DVI Adapter.

From the looks of it the "open box" card I got was not a new card. Judging from the amount of dust built up inside the fan and on the memory heatsinks, someone used this card for a few months, bought a new one and returned this one in the box. I am not suprised it is a defective card.

I checked two Bay Area stores today. Both EPA and San Carlos were sold out. I asked the salesman at the EPA store if he could order one for me, but he said he already tried to order one for himself and it wasn't available anymore. When I drove the the San Carlos store, the rep there confirmed it. I looked on the screen. They aren't available. I doubt they'll be getting more too. Bah.

Very possible, people are sketchy like that, and often openly brag about similar feats here on AT. I'd take it back ASAP. Never buy open box video cards from Best Buy, as they are a prime target for this type of activity. In past hot deals, people have gone as far as shrink-wrapping different cards and returning them. Very unpleasant surprise for the unlucky person who buys it. :|

Did you read my post above? My "Open Box" GeForce3 Ti200 was defective also (Vertical blue lines during boot). They aren't testing their returned items and are putting them right back up on the shelf! Someone should sue....

Man, I won't have the money till wednesday. How many did you see left? Hopefully they will have one, otherwise i'll have to drive to Springfield, which I try to avoid at all costs.

Got one at Orland Park, IL for 79.99+tax. All had the "Ti4200 64mB crushes Ti4200 128mB performance" sticker in front of the box. Sales Rep at the computer dept. admitted that employees were buying them too. They still have 1 left and might not get any more of these cards too. :frown:

None available in the Circuit City a few blocks away.

Edit: I checked again and they all appear to be stickers. Maybe they sold the one I was looking at or maybe I'm just crazy :)

Original post:

I'm confused as hell. Can someone confirm that some of these are NOT stickers? NONE of the boxes at the Douglassville GA store had stickers. The "Crushes 128MB Performance" message was PRINTED on the box. They LOOK like stickers, but they are printed here. Is this a third package design?

I absolutely HATE that employees have first dibs on all deals. 95% of the time that what causes me to lose out on a deal.

The lable I have looks like it can be peeled off (oblong in shape), not printed on the box. I'm keeping it sealed till I find a store w/out it. :frown:

Manassas, VA BB store, one left without the 64mb crushes sticker as of 10am

shelf tag reads 79.99

I picked up 2 without the sticker and confirmed 128mb cards

one of these...probably both will be going to some auction site to fund my Radeon 9500 jones

Well went to Union City, their out of stock on these babies, but you can order them online for the 79 dollar price. I dunno if anyone talked about that yet. Went ahead and ordered online, this isn't too bad of a deal on a 4200 wi no mir/pm/bvg i'm guessing.

Gonna return my Radeon 9100. nice card but i think i rather like nvidia.

Thanks for all those who've been posting on whether the 79 dolllar price is still good today (monday).

:D

Potomac Mills Virginia had 1 w/out sticker (I bought) a confirmed 8X/128. I also went to Circuit City and picked up a stickered one for $10 less and one at CompUSA which after rebate will come out to $50. The CompUSA had 7 in stock. The one I got was a non-stickered one.

Thumbs up for a righteous deal. If any one misses compusa had plenty of tnt's for $40 and MX420's for $80 LOL!!!

Well I'm 0 for 3, as far as the 128 meggers goes. Had to go to 4 different BB's, and 3 of them had 1 left. But they're all the 64 meg version. I'm keeping one and returning 2 tomorrow. If anyone can't get one (a 64 megger) and wants one of mine, they can have it for my cost ($83.59 with the VA tax) plus shipping (so I'm not making any money, just breaking even). Email me if you want one, otherwise they go back tomorrow.

Cheers.

Portland, Maine is ringing up at $169.99 to save anyone a trip. Was going to pick up two, have two computers, to replace my VisionTek G3 Ti200's but they are not on sale here. Perhaps because there isn't a CompUSA?

Thanks for the post, glad a lot of people found them.

Woohoo! went to the Best Buy in Pentagon City and got the last one on the shelf. Although it wasn't where it was supposed to be. Someone had hidden it on the bottom shelf behind some other cards. (I apologize if someone on this board did that!)

Anyway, it rang up as 79.99 and had the sticker on it but I bought it anyways.

Opened up it up and saw the upc like mentioned was 751492223162 and flipped it over and to my surprise it had a little sticker that said gf4 8x 128 M.

I'm excited. This'll be replacing a GeForce 2 :)
