OK, here's the story:
Last week while stopping by the Douglassville, GA Best Buy, I noticed two open-box Visiontek 64MB GeForce3 Ti200 cards on the shelf. One open box tag said $62.XX and the other said $59.99, but the shelf tag said "Clearance $39.99." I asked if I could get them even cheaper because they were open box products but they said no ("Clearance price is the floor. As low as we go."). The only other BB around that I know of (Fayettville, GA) didn't have any so I bought them both for $80.
One was fried. I can't believe they put it back on the shelf without testing it! So I bring it back in to the Douglassvlle store today to apply it's price toward this new deal and I see the shelf sticker for the Ti4200 cards really is $79.99. They have PLENTY left.
Here's the weird thing:
ALL of the boxes say "Crushes the Ti4200 128MB" and have a little 3Dmark2001 benchmark on the back, however, I looked and they do not appear to be stickers. I even scrapped the packaging with my fingernail to "feel" the edges of the sticker. Nothing. They appear to be printed on the box. Is this normal? I see several posts in this thread which suggest that the boxes without a sticker do not say this.
Edit: I checked again and they all appear to be stickers. Maybe they sold the one I was looking at or maybe I'm just crazy
They had one open box product. I know that it was likely returned because someone didn't "get lucky" but all the boxes seemed identical so I thought it wouldn't hurt to save a few bucks. It was labeled "Open Box Item 129.99" but they gave it to me for $71.
It has no mention of AGP8x, 64 or 128MB on the bag's sticker. That means it's definately not a 128MB card right? I don't have the bag with me (At school, taking a test soon). It does have heatsinks on both sides, but that's normal for a 64MB card right?
I might check Fayetteville tonight if I get out of class early enough to drive a hundred freakin' miles...
