U2410

Hi all,

I need a new monitor. The U2410 (ordinarily ~$600) was just on sale for $449. (I just missed that, but perhaps with Presidents' Day coming, it will be back on sale.) What's the best recent price you've seen?

I have read so many disparaging comments about 16:9. I do NO video editing or similar, BUT, on the other hand, I do not watch movies on my computer. On the rare occasions when I would like to watch something in 1080P, the narrow black bars top and bottom would not bother me. Frankly, if I had my druthers, I'd go for another 4:3. However, LCDs of that size don't seem to be widely available (except for bottom end) any more. (I've been very happy with my old Viewsonic VP930b, which my wife is now using, but something slightly larger would be nice). My eyesight is not great, and 1280x1024 on the 19" 4:3 VP930b is about all I can handle.

The U2410 looks ideal EXCEPT for the multiple comments I've seen about pink/green tint problems.

Has this problem been rectified in recent production runs? Anyone have experience with a recently-purchased NEW U2410?

Also, how is Dell about returns? Suppose I get it and hate it. Can I return it (even with a small restocking charge)?

Input and suggestions much appreciated. Thanks!

I just picked one up this week, love it! Beats the pants off my old 20.5" Ultrasharp 2007WFP.

The colors are so much better and the screen is significantly clearer than my 5+ year old monitor.

I got it two weeks ago for $440 + $27 for tax. Shipping was free. I'm pretty sure I saw them even cheaper ($425ish) couple of months ago. They're on sale often.

The sad part for general consumers is your 2007WFP probably beats the pants out of every one of those cheapie 21" monitors out there.
