U2410 Uniformity Issue?

My new U2410 looks as though it is lit through a gradient. On an all white screen everything on the right is a nice clean pure white and it gets progressively worse to a dirty looking greyed white. Top to bottom uniformity looks fine. I don't think it's a backlight issue because I have the brightness set to like 3. Was maybe the anti-glave slathered on too thick and unevenly? Anyone else have a problem like this?

I'll also add that I find the "sparkle" effect from the anti-glare coating pretty obnoxious, though it's really only noticeable to me on white or light backgrounds.

Also, are the improved response times only active in the "Gaming" color mode?

Yep,the monitor bypasses certain electronics in Game mode to provide 1 frame per second speedup for reduced input and response lag.
I haven't noticed any "sparkle" effect on mine.
Have you applied an ICC profile for the u2410 available from TFT?
I found it made a huge difference in color gradients and tinting.

Yes I made an ICC profile via an i1D2 for both the Gaming Mode and sRGB. My issue is the tinting is not uniform, it is stronger on the left side of the monitor.

I don't know about the U2410 specifically, but this is a pretty common complaint about the monitors this size. If it's bad enough you should seek a replacement from Dell, but if it's just "not perfect" then you should just live with it cause you're going to see it on your replacement, on the HP you might try instead, etc. etc.

Have to disagree there. My U2410 seems to be perfect and he shouldn't have to "make do" if its noticeably bothering him.
If you have done what's required and its still not that great then send it back.

While I don't have this problem with the U2410, I do have, and have gone through quite a few 2209's and this issue is definitely prevalent in those monitors. In fact I've seen a lot of recent Dell LCD's that do this. It's particularly noticeable in the corners, but mostly on white screens. When the LCD's were displaying actual web content, or even any color other than white, the issue seems far less apparent. I've tried quite a few different profiles and settings to get a better uniformity with mixed results, but in the end it's just a cover up.

My current 2209 has this issue as well. It's by far the best of the 4 I've been through, but all of them had this issue.

So I'm no monitor calibration expert but I ran a test on each side about 1.5" in from the edge and got an average DE2000 value (which I assume means some sort of deviation from expected color value) of 4.80 on the right (the good side) and 5.44 on the left (the bad side). I think what is more telling, though, is that if I look specifically at the white value I get a value of 0.41 on the right (very good) and 5.09 on the left.

If it bugs you then you should return it. You paid a lot for your monitor, you should be happy with the purchase. Just beware that you may have to go through a couple returns to get one you like. Despite the people in this thread that think cause they got a nice one that it therefore isn't a problem, this has been a problem with the WFP2408, the HP LP2475w, the HP ZR24w, the 2209WA and the U2410 as well. Check the many threads on all these monitors. Some people notice it more than others. Some people luck out and get a nice monitor the first time. Depends on how strongly you feel you should be completely happy with your purchase.

Anyone know if something like this will be covered under their total panel guarantee or am I going to have to pay restocking?

I wish I could get a 24" 20WMGX2. :|

I have a similar problem with my Acer GD245HQ. Every time I game I can see a gradient pattern of vertical strips across the entire screen. It's more noticable on the left and you can see it mainly in lighter areas where the background texture is the same colour. Stands out like a sore thumb. It's totally ruining my gaming experience.

it is a known issue with this panel. It is really a luck of the draw whether you will get one like that or not. There is an extremely long thread over at [H] about it. (Sorry don't have the link at the moment). If you can return it, maybe the next panel will not have the same issue.
