Just got back from the show. What an experience. As close to a spiritual moment as I'm likely to get. Thrilling, moving, emotional. You feel like a part of the theater audience, the concert crowd and somehow the band as well. Awesome and incredible. And I'm only a moderate U2 fan.

If you live near an IMAX you owe it to yourself to check this out.

I just got back too...strange. It is a great show, not really like being at a concert imo. It's not better or worse, just different from the real concert experience if you've been to any. I found the imax audio system to be a bit fatiguing also, but that could just be my ears.

I'll just wait until I can download it and watch it on my 3D glasses. Paying the middleman to watch a video is a thing of the past for me.

I was actually referring to his humanitarian/peace efforts vs your, um, less than pacifist tone :) As to their respective musical talents, I'll let the record sales speak for themselves. As I said, I'm not a monster U2 fan, but grew up in the 80s so definitely have some nostalgia there.

U2's okay, but "The Edge" is not. Is that guy ever going to learn how to play the thing hanging around his neck?

Not exactly a U2 fan but I've given The Joshua Tree and All That You Can't Leave Behind enough spins to go see this when it opens here.

Every U2 song is like 3 chords. First he strums them. Then he picks them. Sometimes he picks, THEN strums. And sometimes he gets really crazy and alternates between the two.

I used to just be like "okay, that's just the style of the band. It fits the music, so whatever." Then I saw him sit in with Wyclef Jean during a concert. What did he do? He strummed the chords... then he picked them. Then I was just like "holy shit, that's all this guy can do."

Do you play? I don't so generally don't engage in discussions of who's better. I can understand when people who do play find certain "professionals" to be technically lacking. Me, if it sounds good, I'm happy. But I can't watch lawyer shows anymore, so I sorta get what you're saying.

He uses a lot of guitars for the show. He's got a new one every song. I never considered U2 to be the pinnacle of musical aptitude. Hell the drummer sucks too, but it works with the music so you can look past it.

Edge is a great player. On the flip-side, he can take 3 chords and make an incredible solo/song out of them. I play guitar a bit, suck massively, and can actually play some of what the Edge does. They are very simple riffs, the solos are just a few notes, pretty simple progression. But it's out of this you notice how amazing he is cause he can do so much with so little. It works great with U2 stuff, but if you want to compare him to the other 90% of guitarists out there who just play a bunch of scales, a million filler notes to show off, then yes, he sucks. None of them are the best at what they do, but their individual styles are perfect for what they play.

Don't think I'll go see U23D, it sounds really cool though. I'll just stick with Popmart until I do.

We saw this last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a great supplement to our crappy seats for the Virtigo Tour.

How do they utilize the 3D? Do they make you feel like you are in the nose bleed seats in a real concert?
