Iraq, Syria, then Canada?

David Murray, right-hand man to U.S. "drug czar" John Walters, says he doesn't want to tread on another country's sovereignty, but warned there would be consequences if Canada proceeds with a plan to decriminalize the possession of marijuana. "We would have to respond. We would be forced to respond," said Murray.

What, they'd try to do away with Canada's freedom to govern the way it see's fit? I hope this is made an issue in the next Presidential Election.

"You can't wall this off saying, 'We're only talking about a little cannabis.' Our experience is they come together like the Four Horsemen," he said.

The way these idiots talk, you'd think we're making an anti-matter bomb, not going ahead with much needed reform.

How could I forget this?

Sheila:  Time's have changed
Our kids are kids are getting worse
They wont obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse!
Sharon:  Should we blame the government?
Liane:  Or blame society?
Dads:  Or should we blame the images on TV?
Sheila:  No, blame Canada
Everyone:  Blame Canada
Sheila:  With all their beady little eyes
And flappin heads so full of lies
Everyone:  Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Sheila:  We need to form a full assault
Everyone:  It's Canadas fault!
Sharon:  Don't blame me
For my son Stan
He saw the darn cartoon
And now he's off to join the Klan!
Liane:  And my boy Eric once
Had my picture on his shelf
But now when I see him he tells me to fsck myself!
Sheila:  Well, blame Canada
Everyone:  Blame Canada
It seems that everythings gone wrong
Since Canada came along
Everyone:  Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Some Guy:  There not even a real country anyway
Ms. McCormick:  My son could've been a doctor or a lawyer it's true
Instead he burned up like a piggy on a barbecue
Everyone:  Should we blame the matches?
Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?
Sheila:  Heck no!
Everyone:  Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Sheila:  With all their hockey hubbabaloo
Liane:  And that bitch Anne Murray too
Everyone:  Blame Canada
Shame on Canada
The smut we must stop
The trash we must smash
Laughter and fun
must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before someone thinks of blaming uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus

Looks like with easy pot and cheaper medicines, both young and old will be heading to Canada for their drugs.

Murray didn't spell out what the American response would be, but he invoked images of tie-ups at border crossings and intense bureaucracy.

My God, is their no end to the ruthlessness of the Bush administration? It would be more humane just to nuke them. :D

But seriously, if the U.S. continues on this path of trying to tell the world how to run things, there will be a backlash. We aren't as independent and invulnerable as some want to believe. And, not a surprise, it is the U.S. that is out of sync with much of the rest of the world - again.

So, now the US is telling us what laws we can and can't pass? I thought the US was pro-democracy, not pro-dictatorship.

well, democracy for other countries actually work like this (bear with me), US is the dog owner/master and other country is the dog,
we want to let our dog roam free and run on the grass, be happy and all that crap, but not run too far from us or go to the place we don't want them to, why? because as the dog master we think we know what is best for the dog. freedom is good as long as it is according our way (see Iraq future gvt) ;)

Right because as we all know no other country tries to tell the US what to do and of course none of them take action if we don't comply. Right?

Right.

When was the last time any country tried to tell the US what substances they are allowed to make legal, and threatend with "consequenses" if they did not comply?

Right.

So in that pea brain of yours you've decided that it's OK for one country to try to effect the laws of another as long as it's something you agree with. Does that about cover your argument?

How about this, you give me an example about any country that has tried to tell the US what national laws they may have (that do not directly affect trade balance, of course)....

I am not aware of any, but perhaps that is because i am so stupid...

Riddle me this. In the event that they captured Osama Bin Laden what would any EU country insist upon before they extradited him to the US?

Hmm, Bush will make Canada his retirement home I wager. :D

I really don't see what the fuss is about. The current proposal merely doesn't throw drug users in jail, but gives them the equivalent of a traffic(re: automobile) fine. Hands off Uncle Sam!

In what way is that comparison valid?

Any European would go against both their national and international laws if they were to extradite OBL to ANY country that would kill him...

Naturally, the same goes for extradited Americans to any other nation...

How you can compare that to the US threatening consequenses for Canada if they legalize marijuana is beyond me... i cannot even refute it because the comparison is so far fetched that i don't know where to start...
