U.S. to pledge $900 million for Gaza rebuild

The United States plans to pledge more than $900 million to help rebuild Gaza after Israel's invasion and strengthen the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, a U.S. official said on Monday.

The money will be channeled through U.N.

First off, I would not give them one red cent until all issues with them and Israel are resolved permanently, anything less and you might as well burn that 900 million for the actual good it will do.

Obama and his cronies are like spoiled brats cut loose in a mall with a credit card that has unlimited charging! They need to get cut off before they take this country past the point of no return!

We paid for every single bomb, every single bullet fired into Gaza.

It's a 'you break it you buy it' scenario.

Agreed.

Obama needs to keep our dog on a tighter leash.

"How in the hell can we afford to give them that kind of money?"

It's simple: If you have a credit card with no limit, and no clue about financial responsibility, you can afford anything!

Does this ^ bother anyone else?

(I.e., like the "Oil for Food" program)

I'm sure half of it will never make it after the UN takes it's cut. Then the PA leadership takes the next half, then no bid contractors take next piece of pie, few crumbs left for rebuilding.

Not me. The resistance to the UN bothers me far more than the concerns.

No, righties, that's not an endorsement of a New World Order UN-led global government.

I don't go out to eat anymore. Trying to save my money. Why can't the government do the same fucking thing? Screw gaza, we can't do shit for them if our economy fails.

You wouldn't have to not eat out anymore if we'd had Al Gore in 2000 instead of Bush.

Try to learn a larger lesson than 'screw Gaza'.

I don't know that your statement is entirely true. What I do know is that the U.S. has some very serious spending problems (all of us, not R. or D). We aren't going to help ourselves by giving out money we can't afford to give out, are we?

Oh? And will he cut aid to Israel? No.

I oppose all foreign aid. We can't afford it.

We could take it out of the $5 billion a year we give to Israel ....

Or the $5 billion a year we give to Egypt. Or better yet help Israel relocate an intransigent population of terrorists once and for all.

It shouldn't the ALL-ISRAEL-ALL-THE-TIME UN virtually ignores huge atrocities around the world from DarFur to Shi Lanka chasing the Jew.

Sounds like a narcissistic persecution complex. I've seen it in other groups who aren't so good at taking responsibility for their actions. Ask US evangelicals - they're under siege.

Sometimes, we will. Some spending generates wealth. Sometimes, there's a moral obligation. And sometimes, you need not to be selective - bombs good, rebuilding bad.

Maybe if the Israelis let them come home they wouldn't be "terrorists" anymore.
