U.S. plans to seek death penalty against Moussaoui

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Federal prosecutors intend to pursue the death penalty against the first criminal defendant charged in connection with the September 11 terrorist attacks, according to letters sent to families of attack victims and Justice Department sources.

The letter, dated March 7, solicits families to offer victim impact testimony at the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui, 33, a French man of Moroccan heritage who allegedly plotted with the other 19 hijackers who crashed three planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and commandeered a fourth plane that passengers forced down in Pennsylvania.

The March 7 letter is signed by Paul McNulty, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and David Novak, the lead prosecutor on the case.

If he is convicted and sentenced to the capital punishment, how long do you think it would take before he actually died? I hear death row is a long wait.
