Yup, there will be some hell to pay over this one.

NFS4: Keep in mind though that this is not a case of a government sanctioned act of war (such as was the case in '41), so it's really hard to go 'all out' against someone.

More than likely some militant cell of some Arab group decided to do this, and the CIA will have to figure out who it was.... and once they do --- it will be ugly.

ulfwald, in your first post you said "kill em all". That was what I responded to. If you want to change your statement it's fine by me, then I have no problem with it. The problem I have is with you implying that I'm un-educated for not understanding what you really meant. That's not right and you hopefully know it.

Sometimes my anger gets the best of me, especially when it volves matters like this, Sorry for the outburt cosmo. I meant Kill all the ones responsible.

If this is not a gov't sanctioned act, then hunt down the leaders and make them pay, if it is gov't sanctioned, then we need to hold the country's leaders and its military accountable.

Seeing as the icelandic defense force is U.S. manned I think all U.S. military bashers from that country should really shut the hell up very quickly.

Not sure if there is a Geneva convention mandate or something similar, but I am pretty sure there is an unwritten law that will not allow the US to assassinate the head of another country. Of course, with black ops and all that stuff the president might never "knowingly" authorize a hit...there are so many leaders that the US would want to remove they wouldn't know where to start!

If the US continues to side with the bully on the block (Israel) it should come as no surprise that Palestinians and their Arab brethren start hating us (the United States). I am not saying one side or the other is right or wrong over there...but when you back one of the most ferocious military states in the world (Israeli Army) you can't help but collect enemies.

Personally, I think the US should turn to a more defensive stance and stop poking our nose in every brush fire from here to Somalia. NOT isolationist, just keeping a respectful distance.

buddha, maybe if they weren't going maybe 40mph up their stern (my guess depending on the size). And my bet is they didn't really let it known that they intended to ram them with explosives. Do people on the deck of these ships have handguns with them?

<< The purpose of the military is to keep peace. >>

Fettsbabe: I'm disappointed. ;) The purpose of the military is to kill people and break things. Keeping the peace is a perversion of their mission and results in dead troops because there is no clear mission (Bosnia, Somalia).

<< So when you piss people off by trying to be world police using your armed forces abroad the affected people should not retaliate. >>

Enforcing sanctions under UN authority against a demonstrated vicious dictator who brutalizes his own people is hardly the equivalent of acting as "world police". Also, since we are the only "superpower" in the world and are not afraid to actually take action unlike those pussies in Europe (most of them, anyway), there is no one else to act when civilized people should (assuming there is a chance something can be done, don't bring up Africa).

This attack will probably be called an accident. They just happened to have about 40 tons of high explosive in a rowboat with an out board motor and it got away from them!

I agree With Ufwald and others. The big problem is this will never be settled in our liftimes so I say protect the US and our interests but DO IT and stop pussy footing around. clinton talked for 8 years now how about some action.

I know! Lets send in the FBI and Janet Reno.

Level the whole mid east and start over.

Accident my @SS. How can you run into a destroyer with a load of explosives accidently.

Sort of like that movie with Bruce Willis

(paraphrased)

"Oh, I see, you came over here, tripped and accidently stuck your d!ck in my wife"

Ufvald and the rest

Arguing with you is like arguing with a brick, no matter what people say to you you will stay in your place like a brick, even if they were going to demolish the house you were a part of.

Meeting force with even more force will only lead to a one nuclear bomb, and so we would se more force from others as in more nuclear bombs.

If some one of my own countrymen would be killed abroud I would hardly care, unless I knew the person, if it was in my own country then it would have been a different matter. And one thing. If you have an army EXPECT people there to die, that is their purpose, to sacrifice their lives for the people.

The purpose of the military is to keep peace, but they do have to kill people and break things in the process!! The military is not always used for "keeping peace" but that is why it exists. People do take advantage of it, and when it happens Americans should protest. Education is the key to reform.

Someone mentioned the Geneva Convention. The convention was created to protect citizens, prisoners of war, etc. I don't think it says we can't kill another countries leader, but there is probably an law somewhere against it. Most "bad" leaders are tried for war crimes instead of being killed.

Of course this was no accident. Why in the hell would a boat filled with explosives be floating out in the middle of the sea?

CZAR, until you live in America, and experience what we have gone through, shut up. Remember, your country depends on the US for its protection.

Most of the free world depends on the US for it's protection. The y love the protection that we provide, but they hate us otherwise.

CZAR, SHUT THE FVCK UP.

I think FettsBabe has a point here. She said the military EXSISTS to keep the peace. The truth is that the militaires main mission now is to help keep the peace throughout the the world. The days of big wars are pretty much over. If there is a big war it will no be with soldier and planes it will be with bombs! Our military has adpated to this role pretty well. I am not saying that I thin kit's the way things should be, sometimes I feel like we should be taking care of ourselves a bit more, but it's the way it is. America considers it's self a moral nation and it will stand up and help nations in need.
