As an embedded reporter with Fox just said on TV.

"The same ones cheering during the day are shooting at us at night".

Doubt it is the SAME people, more than likely, he meant civilians. Still plenty of military running around in civilian clothing...

I'm sorry but he said THE SAME PEOPLE.

I'm sure that they will be taking shots at US soldiers for however long they stay there.

Well he sounds like an excellent reporter, amazing, he can not only remember every face he sees in a city of 5 million, but he can even pick them out at night while being shot at and remember if they waved the day before or not......

WHat's even more amazing is that you would claim to know better than him viewing the action from South Carolina.

Would I doubt that, not at all, I have seen plenty of reports of those that waved, then opened fire after we had passed. I BELIEVE this is what the reporter meant, and I also find it hard to accept he could remember faces so well that he could pick them out at night while under fire, you and I both know when the bullets start flying his butt is all over the floor of the APC.

Fortunately the majority of the Iraqi people are very happy we are there.

You got any facts to back up that claim?

That majority of Iraqis ARE NOT happy that we're over there.

I don't think anyone is in any position to accurately claim the MAJORITY of Iraqis are for or against us being there.

Look at the pics posted all over this forum, watch the footage of the people cheering us, giving us high fives and thumbs up, the ones playing soccer with Uk forces, the people in Basra giving our troops flowers, the residents of Karbala lining the streets and cheering our arrival.

Better yet show me ONE pic of Iraqi citizens protesting our presence...

Would you like a link to the article on that which outlines how Baath party offices and homes were the targets????

hundreds of people poured into the streets to welcome the British soldiers, who joked with civilians. The Associated Press quoted one man as saying: ''Saddam destroyed everything. He destroyed the water. He destroyed the people. The people of Basra are very happy today.''

They don't "protest" they shoot. Maybe you should wonder about all the Iraqis shooting. Neither of us are in position to say what Iraqis want and the US doesn't really care either.

Nice to see that the propaganda makes you feel better though.

So how many coalition forces were killed today by sniper fire in the rest of the cities of Iraq we occupy?

Just so I know what's in store for them.

Alot of the cities are already rebuilding, reopening schools and clinics, starting police forces, choosing regional temporary leaders, restablishing outlawed religous practices, assisting coaltion forces in restoring basic services such as water and electricity. I get the impression they are very happy to be free of Saddam and are ready for a better future. We only need to turn the country over to them quickly and not overstay our welcome.

Well what are you basing your theory off of then?

I will tell you this, 1200 civilians killed so far, under sanctions 7,000 would have died in the same time. Pretty bad when being in a war is five times safer to your health.

What cities do we occupy where citizens are firing on us?

Where do you get that 7000 from? Maybe the US should have let everyone drop the sanctions so the Iraqis didn't die.

Have the sanctions been lifted already or something?
