WASHINGTON — Two years into a civil war that shows no signs of ending, the Obama administration is considering resettling refugees who have fled Syria, part of an international effort that could bring thousands of Syrians to American cities and towns.
A resettlement plan under discussion in Washington and other capitals is aimed at relieving pressure on Middle Eastern countries straining to support 1.6 million refugees, as well as assisting hard-hit Syrian families.

QUESTION: What’s the number that you are ready to resettle?

MS. PSAKI: Well, it doesn’t work exactly that way. There’s a cap by Congress of about 70,000 refugees in total.

This sure worked out well for Sweden, NOT!

You're implying we will have the problems Sweden does by taking in Syrian refugees. That is complete silly times.

What problem is Sweden currently experiencing due to Syrian refugees (apart from a strain on resources due to Germany being the only other civilized country accepting them)?

Some tidbits on Sweden's refugee problems from the Muslim world;

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/05/25/sweden-riots-violence/2360211/

Sweden shaken as riots continue in immigrant suburbs

http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/938

Almost 90% of all robberies reported to the police were committed by gangs, not individuals. “When we are in the city and robbing we are waging a war, waging a war against the Swedes.” This argument was repeated several times. “Power for me means that the Swedes shall look at me, lie down on the ground and kiss my feet.” The boys explain, laughingly, that “there is a thrilling sensation in your body when you’re robbing, you feel satisfied and happy, it feels as if you’ve succeeded, it simply feels good.” “It’s so easy to rob Swedes, so easy.” “We rob every single day, as often as we want to, whenever we want to.”

It is interesting to note that these Muslim immigrants state quite openly that they are involved in a “war,” and see participation in crime and harassment of the native population as such. This is completely in line with what I have posited before. The number of rape charges in Sweden has quadrupled in just above twenty years. Rape cases involving children under the age of 15 are six times as common today as they were a generation ago. Most other kinds of violent crime have rapidly increased, too. Instability is spreading to most urban and suburban areas. Resident aliens from Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia dominate the group of rape suspects. Lawyer Ann Christine Hjelm found that 85 per cent of the convicted rapists were born on foreign soil or from foreign parents.

Sweden under massive crimewaves, 900 % more violent crime.

What a great idea. What a way to reduce incidences of "Sudden Jihad Syndrome". Let some other nation take them in, like Egypt, or Iran, or Iraq, or Saudi Arabia, or Pakistan, etc. Surely there must other countries who would happily accept refugees. How about Brazil? How about Mexico; we take in tons of Mexican economic refugees so it only seems fair that Mexico should take some. How about Australia? Why us, again?

I live in a town with a large population of Muslim refugees from the Sudan. We have no increase in rapes, murders, or any crime because of their presence. What they do is go to school, get jobs, and pay taxes. Everyone of them I've ever talked to just go on and on about how great America is and how they thank their lucky stars to be able to live here.

So basically Syria screwed up their country so now they want to come here...

I would say just cross over in the neighboring areas if it's getting that bad but considering they are in the shit hole called middle east they need to do some traveling.

The "problems" sweden is facing currently involve immigration generally not syrian refugees in particular, no? 94% of the refugees fled to neighboring countries. Like ~10 000 went to sweden, or some shit, though I know there were some there already. Anyway, the world shouldn't expect Sweden and Germany to take them all. Why are there so many hateful people on this forum?

Nice to read some positive comments for a change. I met a syrian refugee last week in Switzerland. Seemed like a decent enough guy. Spoke English well. Although he was strangely christian as well as pro israel, but I forgave him those small transgressions. This world is so black and white for some people.

I hope at least we would pick the best ones (with skill and/or money) out of the bunch.

I wouldn't mind taking in the Christians. I suspect life is going to get much worse for them regardless of who wins, whether it's the Muslim Brotherhood or Assad cracking down on Christians to appease the Islamicists. I would be against taking in more Syrian Muslims than are now allotted.

No rich muslim countries allow immigration from poor muslim countries. It doesn't suit the needs of jihad. Far better to let them go to non-muslim countries to spread the reach of Islam.

So they would be competing against unemployed US citizens for these jobs??

Post the city-data link to back it up. It should show no increase in rapes, murders "or any crime" since the immigration began. It'll also show us the percentage of the population that is Sudanese...

Personally I would rather have someone here that feels blessed to be here... rather than someone illegally just here to make a buck, get benefits, then split.

You do have the radicalization element of each community, but there are muslim communities near where I live as well and there are never any issues.
