AT being, primarily a tech website, I was wondering if most here had problems with virii when accessing the drudge report. I, myself have been actively going to it for many years with no such issues.

thank you

article

edit: poll edited for clarity

It's possible, any site that has advertisements could have ads that contain malicious code. Instead of banning problem sites as they come up, maybe someone should introduce the Massachusetts Attorney's office to Firefox, NoScript, and AdBlock. :)

The 3rd poll should read: Do you have a problem with the sensationalism on drudge and find it reduces credibility?

I rarely go to Drudge for anything.

HOWEVER, I have no issue with the US Government restricting the sites its employees can visit while they're on "company time."

The poll results are interesting.

Of the 4 people who have visited drudgereport.com, 7 have never had an issue with any ad, popup et al. and 4 have.

Did you read the article? If legit, there is a good reason for it!

the second question doesn't ask about ads etc. on drudgereport, it asks about pop up ads in general

why not go all the way, 4th poll should state: do you still beat your wife?

Not sure how this is equivalent or similar to anything I stated.

My guess is that you follow and respect drudge and are just striking out anyway you can. Try to be a little more appropriate and imaginative.

Yes I did read it. I have no idea whether any of the "Malicious Code" is true or not...or whether there are other reasons...but it really doesn't matter. (well, if it's malicious code, of course it DOES matter, but...) Any company, including the various branches of the government, have the right to restrict what sites its employees visit while on the company time, on company computers and systems.

Hell, why the fuck do companies permit their people to nef on the internet, anyway? Don't they have work to do? :p

Applies to any business as well. You're on the clock, supposed to be earning money for the company. There's nothing wrong with restricting what you can and cannot browse to on a company PC/Internet connection.

Yes, you have posted the most misleading thread title of the year.
Congratulations!
I guess you failed to appreciate (or read) your own link:
"due to potential viruses on the site."

I check it all the time for the latest headlines, haven't had a problem with it or my PC in the past 10 years.

So it's my fault that I copy/pasted the actual title of the article as my title. Should I have just copied the entire article into the title so as not to be misleading to you?

Yes - for many years (despite it being quite sensational at times)
Yes - but nothing since I discovered Firefox/Adblock/Noscript

I don't think that government office employees should be able to view any websites that are not part of the job . That is how security leaks happen. Tax dollars at work, paying others to surf.

They need to adopt the sandia policies for classified areas to the entire government network. No internet access. If it is needed for work, it is done off the internal network.
