^ This kind of shit is why I think a lot of progressives are insane.
Because they'll lambaste and denigrate Jews and Christians while vowing to kill for the benefit of one other particular religion?

I expect Obama to apologize to Muslims when he speaks of this. It's SOP to beg forgiveness from them.
I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.
I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.
On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya's transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my Administration, and deeply saddened by this loss.
The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward.
It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the death of four American personnel in Benghazi, Libya, yesterday. Among them were United States Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith. We are still making next of kin notifications for the other two individuals. Our hearts go out to all their families and colleagues.
A 21-year veteran of the Foreign Service, Ambassador Stevens died last night from injuries he sustained in the attack on our office in Benghazi.
I had the privilege of swearing in Chris for his post in Libya only a few months ago. He spoke eloquently about his passion for service, for diplomacy and for the Libyan people. This assignment was only the latest in his more than two decades of dedication to advancing closer ties with the people of the Middle East and North Africa, which began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco. As the conflict in Libya unfolded, Chris was one of the first Americans on the ground in Benghazi. He risked his own life to lend the Libyan people a helping hand to build the foundation for a new, free nation. He spent every day since helping to finish the work that he started. Chris was committed to advancing America's values and interests, even when that meant putting himself in danger.
Sean Smith was a husband and a father of two, who joined the Department ten years ago. Like Chris, Sean was one of our best. Prior to arriving in Benghazi, he served in Baghdad, Pretoria, Montreal and most recently The Hague.
All the Americans we lost in yesterday's attacks made the ultimate sacrifice. We condemn this vicious and violent attack that took their lives, which they had committed to helping the Libyan people reach for a better future.
America's diplomats and development experts stand on the front lines every day for our country. We are honored by the service of each and every one of them.
The only disgraceful one is Romeny.
1. Hes lying out his ass per usual
2. Hes politicized the death of a US ambassador for his own personal political gain. Right wing neanderthals will eat up anything even stuff of total fiction.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears the statement was made just after the Cairo protest (where the walls were breached) and before the Liyba protest. This of course never happened, with the statement in question made BEFORE anyone had breached the walls of the embassy in Cairo (or anything at all had happened in Libya.)

What happened is Romney made a claim that the statement was in reaction to the attack without bothering to do any real research first.
Terry Jones needs to die in a fire.
The claim by Romney and some other sources was wrong, even the Wall Street Journal is now acknowledging the statement was made prior to the walls of the embassy being breached. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears the statement was made just after the Cairo protest (where the walls were breached) and before the Liyba protest.

"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims—as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions," it said in a statement. "Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."

Thanks for the clarification. Looks like there was a lot of inaccurate information in the media regarding timing of the embassy's statement. The claim by Romney and some other sources was wrong, even the Wall Street Journal is now acknowledging the statement was made prior to the walls of the embassy being breached.

Ah, then I apologize for thinking he would. Least his words took the middle ground. Action though, will be entirely missing. All we have are empty words that no one will feel.
Perhaps this attack is a greater call to GTFO of the region. Best thing the world can do is isolate and embargo crazy Islamist nations.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin slammed President Obama and the U.S. Embassy in Cairo's response to the attacks on U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya, which have left four dead, including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya.
Shortly after midnight Wednesday morning, as the calendar turned past Sept. 11 on the East Coast, Palin joined presidential nominee Mitt Romney and other Republicans in attacking the Obama administration's response.
She posted a lengthy statement on her Facebook page, and she decided to open with a joke:
Apparently President Obama cant see Egypt and Libya from his house.
Her statement then delves into all kinds of attacks. She hits Obama for a radio interview with Miami DJ "Pimp with the Limp" Laz, for the Moody's credit downgrade warning and, yes, for playing golf.
In response to this, the U.S. embassy in Cairo issued a statement that was so outrageous many of us thought it must be a satire. The embassy actually apologized to the violent mob attacking us, and it even went so far as to chastise those who use free speech to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims. (Funny, the current administration has no problem hurting the religious feelings of Catholics.)
But where is the presidents statement about this? These countries represent his much touted Arab Spring. Hows that Arab Spring working out for us now? Have we received an apology yet from our friends in the Muslim Brotherhood for the assault on our embassy?
Its about time our president stood up for America and condemned these Islamic extremists. I realize there must be a lot on his mind these days what with our economys abysmal jobless numbers and Moodys new warning about yet another downgrade to our nations credit rating due to the current administrations failure to come up with a credible deficit reduction plan. And, of course, he has a busy schedule with all those rounds of golf, softball interviews with the Pimp with the Limp, and fundraising dinners with his corporate cronies. But our nations security should be of utmost importance to our Commander-in-chief.
And here's how she closed the statement:
If he doesnt have a big stick to carry, maybe its time for him to grow one.

A spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Morsi is a member, said that the United States should do a better job of protecting Islam.
It isnt a matter of freedom of speech, said Muslim Brotherhood spokesman Mahmoud Gozlan. Its a matter of a holy Islamic symbol.
why? because he made a film a bunch of grown man cant tolerate and need to kill over?
Who really needs to die?
Like it or not, Islam and the culture within it will not be adopting Western views anytime soon. We can talk all day about the retro aspects of it and why it's contrary to accepted norms in others areas of the world, but in the end it is a static entity with known characteristics. It'd be great if all the muslim fundies would either jump into the 21st century, or just spontaneously drop dead, but of course that's impossible.
What shouldn't be impossible is for religious nutbags like Jones (and those that defend him) to grasp the concept of "cause and effect."
Those people would not have been killed if this cultural outrage hadn't been incited. Jones knows full well his dogmatic campaign of hate endangers Americans abroad. This is exactly the kind of thing we were worried about him creating with his Burn a Koran Day stunt.
Indeed. He should know that Judaism and Christianity are the only religions allowed to be ridiculed.
/sarcasm
Holy crap, not this again.
There is one way, and only one way to deal with this.
Mass produce, and i mean *mass* produce a couple of interjoined dolls/actionfigures, one of the prophet interjoined with his penis in jesus'es ass while jesus is blowing l ron hubbard while hubbard is fingering the prophet ... Now do mass drop these dolls over the hysteric crowds all over until they stop being fricking hysteric fucktards. And that goes for anywhere in the world.
They seriously gotta take on the "Oh its those nutty americans again, who cares"-attitude before someone starts to take em seriously.

I don't consider what he did Freedom of Speech, I think it's closer to hate speech that costs American lives. Jones loses nothing and compromises nothing of his own by NOT inciting this kind of reaction. He can talk about this to his congregation or anyone else till he's blue in the face for all I care, but making a movie for mass distribution is muckraking of another scale.
Anyone who considers their personal views as more important than the lives of their countrymen is a waste of a human being IMO.
I take no issue with Romney because all he's done is look stupid. That hasn't gotten anyone killed, and is far different than Terry's campaign of hate and incitement.
He's using American lives as a medium to stimulate and showcase muslim outrage from the religion and culture he hates. More hypocrisy and idiocy from the "pro-lifers."

I think the last thing we should be doing is abandoning the region to people like this.
