well, if 9-11 wasn't radical then I don't know what is. There are lots of places in the world i.e. Africa, India where there are poor people and people being oppressed and "disenfranchised." India has a large Muslim population but is headed by a secular gov't. I think there is a dangerous link between religious fundamentalism and political/state powers. This is evident in states like Iran and Afghanistan

That's the sad part about this. U.S. government policy towards the Middle East aside, lack of education is what gives the fundamentalists so much power. It's much easier to convince people when they don't have the ability of critical thinking. This is just another facet of the problem. FWIW.

I work with a couple arab americans and they talk to their family members back in the middle east in jordan and kuwait.

The common setiment over their is ( this is perception in the arab world now) that the actions of the united states since feb 02 have been seen to give more credit to OBL and have caused the US to lose credit in this region.

My experience is entirely different. Some people I know that have freinds/family over there look at the US in a relatively good light for going in. Guess it's what you want to see though, huh - smashp?

why would any Arab co-worker come out and say his/her family in their homeland is against the U.S?
I'm not questioning that they didn't I am just questioning their level of intelligence.

My views have been countries like Iran love America. Same with UAE and Jordan. I know because I have videos of friends going there and they are cheering for the U.S on the video. Afghanistan loves U.S for helping them.

Saudi Arabia on the other hand is run by fanatical wackos so I wouldnt be suprised if they wanted to cover our statue of liberty up with a veil.

Then afghan Iran/Afghanistan are not Arab countries so they don't count.

The majority of the relatives they talk to are american educated. They were commenting on perception in the "Arab street" as it is called. Most arabs that have western educated usually dont feel this way.
