and why is everyone so against this? it's not like it costs anything?

total time: less than 10 minutes.
-create a new hotmail junk email account (2 minutes)
-go to flyertalk and register, use first link in conga line, add name to conga line (2 minutes)
-go through free ipods registration process (2 minutes)
-click on ebay link and register with ebay (2 minutes) - you don't even need a credit card if you provide them with an email from an ISP (AOL, school, etc)
-verify link sent to ISP email (1 minute)
-place bid on an item (1 minute) (i've noticed that the big sellers are automated, so they rarely leave negative feedback if you happen to win)
-sit and wait...

WORST CASE: you wasted 10 minutes and get a lot of junk email at an account you don't use; win a $0.01 auction and get negative feedback on an account you don't use
BEST: $300 ipod for 10 minutes of work = $1800/hr. How many people here earn that much?
Because there's a fundamental problem with getting an iPod for less than any sort of retail cost. You know they're not getting the iPods from Apple for anything near what they collect, so someone is supposedly paying for it. It's still something that reaks of "too good to be true."
