Does anyone have any experience with these? From what I understand, tyrosine helps with dopamine production and tryptophan helps with serotonin production.

I can't find much on tryptophan and that is the thing I am most interested in.

By itself L-tyrosine hasn't been shown to have much effects. However, taken with caffeine can jack up catecholamine levels, which will have a positive effect on fat mobilization. The effects can be even more pronounced (specifically for stubborn fat) when taken with an alpha-antagonist such as yohimbine. If you're looking for even more of a stimulant effect combine the caffeine and L-tryosine with some high GI carbohydrates. The insulin will help with nervous system output. However, it will negate the effects of yohimbine if your goal is fat loss. However, if your goal is performance and not fat loss, go that route. It can also be used to potentiate the effects of ephedrine.

Due to tryptophan's effects on serotonin and melatonin levels, it is helpful as a sleep aid. It's also been used for depression and actually increasing the effects of many depression medications.

Hmm, did not know that about Tyrosine. Would a ECYT stack have any issues to worry about? I respond very well to EC, just demolishes any hunger issues and keeps energy pretty decent.

Thanks for the great reply. Long story short, I am in recovery and looking for non-mood altering ways of getting myself in working order. What you described would be great for me if it does work.

I am pretty sure I broke my serotonin receptors during my summer of E.

Ephedrine is a beta-agonist while yohimbine is an alpha-antagonist. Combining the two can cause problems with heart rate and blood pressure. At the low bodyfat % people will benefit from yohimbine, blood pressure and heart rate should be low enough where it may not be an issue. However, I generally recommend not mixing the two. IMO, stick with ephedrine + caffeine + L-tyrosine OR yohimbine + caffeine + L-tyrosine. If you choose to use yohimbine you can continue to take ephedrine throughout the day, but I would probably take it quite a while after your yohimbine. So instead of taking 25mg ephedrine / 200mg caffiene 3x daily, just take it twice daily. Replace what would normally be your first ephedrine dose for the day and replace it with yohimbine. However, I would like to mention that until you get down to 10% or lower stubborn fat isn't going to be much of an issue and yohimbine won't be of much use. Also, like I said before, pretty much any rise in insulin negates the effects of yohimbine, so it should ideally be taken in the morning or at least 4 hours after a meal. Following it up with moderate paced steady state cardio will do wonders for stubborn fat.

So assuming you don't have any stubborn fat issue, stick with the EC stack and perhaps add 1-3g of L-tyrosine to the mix. However, L-tyrosine will still have a stimulating effect without the ephedrine and just come caffeine and sugar pre-workout.
