<< can it be used with the natural keyboards? >>

Sure it can. You'll just have to change the keymap the OS uses and perhaps put some stickers on the keys to remind you of which key is which :)

I know that I can use it with natural keyboards, but does it make it any less effective because of the split in the middle?

The basic principle is that the home row is used for the most common letters...
Therefore you can type faster (even with a split keyboard) :p

THe split is meaningless. You should nver have to reach across the split with either QWERTY or Dvorak.

It's suppose to be easier on the wrist too, since all the common used letters are on the home row. I tried it for a few days a few years ago, but just never really got into it. Now that this thread is up, think i'll try giving it a shot again.

Alright, I just switched my keyboard to dvorak. That sentence took about a minute to type. Damn this is really hard. I'm going to stop now, bye.

I think what would be really difficult would be really old UNIX based text games like Rogue, NetHack, Larn, Moria, and Angband. I've been playing Moria/Angband variants for over 10 years. If the keys were suddently different I pretty sure my head would explode.

Im using dvorac as I type now.

It isnt too easy to learn, but I dig the layout.

once I can lable the keys for training, I might switch permanently.

this took me about five minutes to type.

I type about ninety on qwerty, and about nine on dvorac, but I still dig dvorac, for some odd reason
