Hey,
I'm having a rather difficult time at the moment. My friend has got his laptop with 1 major problem. You have to hold the windows key down (the key with the windows logo on it) to type and do everything. You can't even type some words because of letter combinations such as:

WK + R = opens up the run command console
WK + E = that just opens up my computer in explorer mode.

so there are a heap of words he cannot type.
Also when he starts his laptop up, it asks if he wants to enter setup (F2), boot from LAN (F8) or press ESC to miss boot, or something or rather. (You also have to hold your windows key down for this)

Please, if anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank-you

Btw, i also reformatted and it still has this problem.!!!!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the keyboard is broken. :p

If it's not working in BIOS, no amount of reformatting will help. Your OS isn't even running at that point, so it must be a hardware problem.

If it's under warranty, send it in for repair. If it's not, you may be able to find a replacement keyboard and swap it out. It would help if you told us what kind of laptop it is. :p

After the format everything is working really fast.
Here are a few problems i have encountered:

Computer Specs:
Compaq, intel Celeron (presario 2500) @ 2.8Ghz
Some ****** Radeon card, and thats all i know about it :(

1) There is sound when i haven't installed any audio drivers??
2) When booting up it asks "Press ESC to change boot order, Press F2 to enter Setup, F12 to boot from LAN. (If i let it run, after bout 2 - 3 minutes it looks like it starts to head into windows but after about 2 seconds it keeps constantly beeping (nonstop)
3) Even at bootup you have to hold the windows key to press another button eg. WK + ESC to get into windows normally. Then when your in windows, you have to hold that key down to type everything and after you release the windows key it opens up my computer and the run console, even if you didn't press "R"
4) Occasionally, when you click the start button, it turns itself off WTF?????
5) Also occasionally when you click a button, u know that sound u get? Well it continously loops that sound.

I have no idea how to fix any of the above problems???
Please, i am in desperate need of help here!!!

It sounds like this system is having some serious hardware stability problems. Possibly the motherboard has been damaged, or some of the RAM is bad. If you can boot from CD, try running Memtest.

Yep, i ran memtest on the laptop, i stopped it at 1700% and it had no errors at all during the test. So i doubt it would be my ram. Any other ideas??

You have a stuck key on your keyboard, evident by the repetative beeping noise during bootup that you posted about. Replace the keyboard and your problems should go away.

Yea, but the problem was that i plugged in a USB keyboard and uninstalled the other 1 (original) and then when it boots up the computer it re-installs the original 1 without paying attention to the USB 1 ???

Find out which key it is, then disable it in the registry. Problem solved.

It seems that all the buttons r pushed down. Because when ever i go to open something up and type in it, the "u" button just goes nuts and so does q and e ect.
