I recall when there was a major terrorist threat in the 80s in the US and airports went on high alert and instituted stringent procedures during this time.

While this was going on Red Cell members regularly took handcuffs, knives, belt knives, and snub nozed pistols onto planes and usually not just one and always on their person.

That's because they were;

1. Smart and well trained. Didn't gather attention to themselves (fidgit or scratch themselves etc).

2. They were outright intimidating to approach let alone handle. There's the story about the female military SWAT officer who had to pat down one of these guys. hahaha Can you imagine the most intimidating person say "comon baby go ahead and grab and feel it, it won't bite." Lol Suffice it to say she didn't do a very good job.

Yes, they were male, and it was December right after 9-11. There was nothing I could do about it because we were separated at a point before the terminal. So she was travelling alone at that point. She told me about it later when she came home.

She started developing a weight problem after that. Kind of like a way to protect herself, really--- from unwanted sexual attention. Her weight is back under control now, but she realized pretty quickly that as a female, she's vulnerable.

My daughter still flies by herself because she wants to (she's 17 now) and she's toughened up a bit. No way in hell I'll ever let my other 2 go it alone, no matter how much they beg me. Too many opportunists out there and I'm not into providing opportunities.

I'm truly sorry to hear your daughter had to go through that. We have a daughter of our own. No age is a good age to be exposed to sexual abuse but fourteen is probably one of the worst. I hope your daughter is OK.

I read recently that females have the right to demand a female security officer search them now. Make sure your daughter knows that. She sounds like a strong girl still demanding to fly alone.
