Is 28 CFM good for an 80mm case fan?

It all matters, i think 28cfm is a decent amount of airflow for an 80mm, considering that sound will also be very little. I dont know what cfm my case fans are (they came free w/case), but i have an 80mm attached to my heatsink and its 30cfm and does its job well.

This is about midrange. For 28CFM, depending on the company, you can expect a noise level about 24 dBA, which is just above whisper quiet. Some 80mm fans can kick-out an amazing 60-80 CFM, but that's way too loud for me to live with. I use a 92mm in the rear and a 120mm in the front, this combo provides high CFM (52-75) with low noise. I use a 80mm on my heatsink that runs at 37CFM and 30dBA. That's a nice balance.

Bottom line, 28CFM is average, and will be fine for most setups. If you OC, or have a run-of-the-mill case, you may need more cooling: higher CFM or more fans. What's your setup and where do you want to put it?

i say that getting a 80mm fan that has 40-60 cfm is a better choice.

i dont really think that 28cfm does really anything much and for sure that shouldnt be your major intake fan

I am using a YS-tech 48.5 cfm that comes in at 36.9 db. It is actually not that bad noise wise. not the quietest, but still pretty good. My old fan was 21 cfm and that just was not enough airflow, but 28 may be enough for you. I would look for the mid-30 range, but that is just me
