Tyan Tiger UDMA Select Problem?

DualAthalon

I have recently upgraded to the dual Athalon Tyan Tiger MB using 2ea XP1700+ CPU's.

Everything is working fine, but when I try to select "use DMA if available" for my Plextor 24x10x40 CDRW and Panasonic 16X DVD the system freezes during windows bootup at the "preparing networks" portion of the bootup process. The CDRW is the master and the DVD is the slave on the secondary IDE channel. Reversing makes no difference. Changing from secondary to primary IDE channel makes no difference.

With my previous ABIT KT7A MB under WIN2K SP2 the DVD would operate using UDMA. At the time I did not have the Plextor CDRW but had a TDK velocd 12x10x32 CDRW.

I have installed the latest AMD IDE controller drivers. Experienced the same problem using the Microsoft generic IDE controller driver.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Thanks in advance.

It is possible that is is a problem with the firmware for your devices, check the instructions on line from each company.
