the tiger boards are probably opteron (for sure that dual socket thunder is opteron) but the pic isnt detailed enough to see the corner and see if it has the extra pin or not
 
Yeah those are 1 series server boards, just look at the power connectors.

Stability is a must for servers so the ECC memory support is important. Besides that there's not much other than integrated dual gigabit that I can think of for why someone might choose the 1 series board.
 
Think about all the fx-51 and 53 940 pin owners out there who may want to upgrade with out selling their cpu. Tons of companies are offering 939 nforce 4 solutions so tyan is picking up this little bit of the market.
