Tyan Tiger dualies, $89.

What are you doing up so early?

I hate to ask how many you bought. :Q

BTW, what "Rack" number are you building now? lol

Hmm.. tempting.. very tempting.. I bought my last two of these boards from the same place after mechBgon told me about it. Perhaps another 2 or 3 of these would be a good idea... 🙂

Too bad they can't ship to my location. I tried ordering from them, only to be told they can't ship. I guess they just don't want the business.

<< Hi,

Thank you for your interest in shopping with us. Although UPS does ship to some zip codes in Hawaii and Alaska, they have restrictions on the size of the package. The dimensions of the package can not exceed 84". The calculation they use are as follows:

height X width + length must be less than or equal to 84".

I am sorry we are unable to ship the item you have selected. Please visit us again soon-we add new brand-name products at great savings every day.

IsOs,

If you want to order some, have them shipped to me using their free shipping option, and I'll ship them to you Priority Mail Insured. Shouldn't be more than about $6 a board. If interested, eMail me for address.

and Slot A motherboards for 60 bucks....Assuming allstarshop falls through, I might just end up with a no-name brand Slot A motherboard...heh (PS - yes russ, allstarshop is a POS company, and that T-bird I bought from you is still out of commission - as it has been for months :|)

Damm I wish I would have seen this Last month....

I could be running my 2 P3-600's at 800.....

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooo..............

SpaceWalker,

I took a serious look at those Diamond boards, but I really needed the ability to tweak a bit, since I'll be loading these up with P2-300's running at 450.

Russ, NCNE

Thanks for the offer Russ. I'm interested. I'm not sure which email address to use to send you the message. Can you send me your address via private message system.

I hope overstock.com will allow drop shipment to your location.

IsOs,

Address is in your box. They do allow shipping to a different address than billing. At least they have when I ordered. Of course, in my case both addresses are in the same city, so it'll be interesting to see if they'll let a Hawaii billing address ship to Washington State.

Russ, NCNE

What a shame they don't ship overseas. 🙁

At $89 even with the low exchange rate we've got at the moment it's still on £63, less than half of the cost of a board in the UK and at that price I'd definately have one. Mind you, the dual 800's to put in it might have to wait until next payday.

Tiger 100 (S1832) Motherboard

Benefits and Applications

Tyan Tiger 100 is a quality, high performance single/dual processor mainboard based on the powerful Intel Pentium® II / III microprocessors. This mainboard is designed around the latest and fastest Intel 440BX AGPset. Please refer to the Motherboard CPU Compatibility Chart for more specs.

The Tiger 100 supports SPD SDRAM memory and ECC SDRAM. The board's PCI Local Bus and new 32-bit AGP bus provides high performance capabilities that are ideal for a wide range of demanding applications such as: CAD, CAM, CAE, real-time 3D, and simulations.

This integrated system board achieves the highest reliability and is based on an extended double row ATX form factor. Some of the features included are: on-board dual channel PCI IDE, on-board floppy controller, on-board high speed I/O, Universal Serial Bus, on-board PS/2 mouse connector, and optional System Mangement.

Flexibility and expandibility have been designed into the Tiger 100. With I/O and drive controller support built on-board, the Tiger 100 allows many upgrade paths not found on other boards. With four 168-pin DIMM sockets, the Tiger 100 can provide a very flexible memory configuration of up to 1GB SPD SDRAM or SDRAM+ECC in addition to the new 100 MHz SDRAMs (PC-100 memory required for 100 MHz operation)

[edit] 4 PCI slots not Five [/edit]

thx RUSS

I'm wondering if I should get this for my web server box. I'm still looking into starting a small web hosting company, and want a stable machine. I figure I can upgrade to scsi in the future by simply adding a scsi card, though on-board scsi would be nice.

Jay

Jay,

I already have three of them; they're solid as a rock. Two are running Linux Mandrake; one with dual P3-550Mhz and a SCSI (Tekram 390u2w) setup; one with dual Celeron 300's overclocked to 450Mhz. The other is a node running Klinux with dual P2-300's at 450.

Thanks, I replied to both of your messages.

The one on Overstock.com is 1833D - what's the difference between retail 1832D and OEM 1833D?

IsOs,

The OEM version is missing the standard header for speaker/led's/power switch, etc. It has it in a different location, but functions fine. You just have to move plugs around until you find the right ones. And, it has four PCI instead of five.

Russ, NCNE

I got one of these from Overstock on the first go around and have been using it in my main system. I am currently running back at 700@933. I had to step it down to 784 for a while but I tweaked the memory settings and I am trying it at 933 again. Great board for the price if you can spare losing the PCI slot over the Retail.

If anybody needs help with the pin out to get the case connections working, just PM me and I will be glad to help.

If you are a new customer at overstock you can also find a coupon for 20 off of 50 to make it an irresistible $69.

Quick question...

It's been a while since the Celeron2's came out, and I can't remember if they didn't do dual on just the BP6 (because of the VRM specs) or if they didn't do dual at all. I could I say, throw two C2 566's at 850 on a slotket and stick them on this board and expect them to work?

Russ

I appreciate your help very much. I'm waiting for a confirmation from overstock.com that the board is shipped - probably in a day or two.

So OEM board has the header on a different location. That's should be okay for cracking.

Amok

Celeron 533 (PPGA) is the highest un-overclock celeron that can do dual cpu. The current favorite is Pentium III 700 MHz. The cost is not too far from Celeron 2 anyway.

How easily do the PPGA C533's oc to 750? They're about $70 and the P3 700's are about $175 so:

2 x $70 = $140, 533 oc to 750 x 2 = 1.5Ghz
$140/1500Mhz = $0.0933/Mhz

2 x $175 = $350, 700 oc to 933 x 2 = 1.866Ghz
$350/1866Mhz = $0.1875/Mhz

Is it worth the extra $210 for the extra 366Mhz?
