Tyan Tiger 100 - mis-reported RAM?

Hi,

I have this board, installed 3 indentical DIMM's of 256MB which should make 768MB. However the BIOS only sees 512MB.
Can anyone who has or has had this board confirm this is a BIOS error? It seems likely. I've not yet tried putting th
3rd stick into the 4th slot.

Thanks

Do you have the latest BIOS? Here's the INFO page if you haven't been there yet. You should be able to run the memory, unless there's a loading problem on the buss. Does the manual say it's been tested with 256MB RAM, or does it say it was unavailable at the time of printing?

As for the BIOS. I will reboot and check once more. I swear it's the latest version though. If not I will flash it. One bad thing about the BIOS is when it first boots the screen it's centered well. Some of the info is off-screen 🙁

And for the manual. I will read that too, though before I don't recall any tests being done.

I cant make out the date of the BIOS. It's half off-screen. Anyway, the latest BIOS only solved the CPU speed to be reported upto 850MHz.

I'm going to put 1 DIMM in slot 4 once this Windows update thingy finishes.

I don't know how it happened but I put it in DIMM slot 4 and nothing, still 512MB. Then I took it out and back into DIMM 3 and guess what? 786MB detected. Now it can sit there, one problem solved.
