Tyan dual CPU S2468UGN with Ultra 160 SCSI for $139.00

Tyan dual CPU SCSI board in the clearance section of computershop.com. I think this will require a special case. Here's the link to Tyan's specification on this board. tyan.com specs. May be a good deal for somebody looking for a SCSI dually setup. pricematch.com shows up $400 price on this mobo...

Credit partially goes to "Johnniewalker" as I found this due to the link he posted in the other post.

LoL we've turned this into a dialogue thread

Why didn't you go for the MSI? The audio is THX certified and it's few bucks cheaper 🙂

Keep in mind that this board uses a proprietary PSU... Won't work with your run of the mill ATX PSU. The PSU itself is usually another 100 itself at the least... Kills the deal IMO for the average user. 🙁 What I'm wondering is if these units are using the rev B southbridge or the buggy rev A.

WARNING: The Thunder K7X only supports dual Athlon ATXGES power supplies (24-pin/8-pin) and will not operate with other types. Refer to section 2.10 for instructions on installing dual Athlon ATXGES power supplies.

DO NOT use ATX 2.x, ATX12V and EPS12V type supplies as they will damage the board and void your warranty.

Well, all I know is that I got in on this 1:00AM EST so hopefully it will go through for me.

Maybe if someone else orders, we can see if the number goes down?😛

I read that this board is quite picky on PSU and memory. If you're thinking about buying it, be sure to check out the following:

recommended power supply list

recommended PC2100 memory modules

In particular, Crucial / Micron memory seems to not work well on this board.

But if you've been looking for an Athlon board that has an AGP slot and also has 66MHz 64-bit PCI slots, this is the board you want.

Tyan S2468 specs

By the way, anyone knows if XP2100+ will work on this board? At $79 a piece, $158 for two, it'll be sweet if I can put them on a dual board.

expect to pay 100-200 for the power supply alone; though the upside of that is that you know that the power supply will be able to handle your motherboard for sure since it's been tested 🙂

a quick look on price watch shows that the NMB power supply is about $130, and is on tyan's reccomended ps list. if you wanted to go balls out, PC Power&Cooling has their Turbo-Cool 510 A4 for $199.99 :Q

The number doesn't go down, so it's likely sold out by now.

Well...that's not *entirely* true. You are right that it will not work with an EPS12V power supply. An EPS12V power supply's plug will fit into the slot (unfortunately) and if you plug it in and try to turn on the board you hear a high-pitched whining noise until you turn it off.
However, you can turn the computer on and off 5 or 6 times (whining the whole time), and it will still work fine once you get an ATXGES power supply. Don't ask how I know this 😉 🙂

i bought this board from them for $150 about 2 months ago. the dimm slots clips were broken off, the board was used. i am local to the store so i returned it. i wonder if they are selling the one i returned...
