I was going to respond with the "bird in the hand" quote, but given the thread title, that might be misconstrued. 😱

For those of you that are not in the CT/Mass area, Northampton is a predominately lesbian town. It's college population is full of gay students. Smith College, along with Mt. Holyoke College, and a few other colleges around Amherst, are known for having the most lesbian students. And unfortunately, most look like these two. Don't get me wrong, you do get the hotties, but they tend to fade in the backround because of all the freaks that flock to this town.

Northampton is a really, really cool town to walk around though. They have awesome shops, and Pearl Street Nightclub, and the Iron Horse Nightclub, are historic in the musical circles. Look Park on the outskirts of Northampton is probably one of the nicest parks I've ever been to. But, because of the colleges, there really are a lot of freaky looking people in this town. 99% are cool, they just look wierd. Expressionism is really big in this town, much more so than in any of the towns surrounding Northampton.

that bail if awfully low for a rape charge...

just goes to show that no one takes it seriously when a woman rapes. Granted, this case isn't as cut-and-dried as it could be...

I think it's important to remember that good judgment can be a big preventer of these situations. The victim willingly went to their apartmnt (even though apparently she has a restraining order against one of the girls) where the consumed a few (!!!) bottles of champagne and then had consensual sex first.

No she didn't deserve to be raped, but there are basic lessons to learned here.

1. Don't go to the homes of people you don't trust or know well
2. Don't drink with people you don't trust or know well
3. And certainly don't have consentual sex with them.
4. Be smart about where you go and what you do.

The accused knew the vicim well before the incident, so odds are she isn't going to suddenly start going around attacking people. And just because this incident made the papers, doesn't mean the risk of rape is greater t hen it was prior to tis incident. Your best protection is making a point to not put yourself in high risk situations. It's pretty logical... hangout/party/sleep with people you know and trust and never go into the house of someone you don't know/trust

Wait... aren't you the one who was about to meet someone you know online for the first time, and everyone in OT basically told you to go with a friend or something? I could be wrong, but I coud've swore that was you.

Some lesbians can become aggressive and even violent when in munching distance of another females carpet. The speed and accuracy in which they move is frightening.

I am not really surprised.

1) its smith college
2) I lived in Noho, for about 3 months, before I GOT THE F4C|K OUT
3) I now live peacefully in the town over.
