So you picked Edmonton and Tampa Bay in your pool then?

My picks are irrelevent. What I'm saying is, the regular season means nothing. Put the puck on net and anything can happen.

I can tell you what isn't going to happen. Dwayne Roloson and Ty Conklin are not going to win 4 games against the Red Wings.

Which ever team wants to win the most will win 4 games.

I agree with that. But your original statement confuses me:

1. What was done in the regular season means nothing. A perfect example is 8th place Edmonton against 1st place Detroit. Despite being separated by 29 points in the regular season, Edmonton stacks up very well against Detroit. They were 2-2 in the regular season against the Wings.

So is the regular season irrelevant or can it be used as a base of reference on how one team will do against another? Your post doesn't make any sense.

It sounds to me like your heart put money on Edmonton when your wallet is pulling for Detroit.

Statistically, the Oilers don't have a chance and they should just forefit.

What you can do over 82 games means nothing though when everything comes down to a short series like this. All that matters is that you play with enough heart to win 4 games.

Edmonton showed they have the skill to beat the best team in the league when they try, despite being the lowest ranked team in their conference to make the playoffs.

Good luck to your Oilers.

Who said I was cheering for the Oilers? :p

Dude, you are from Canada. It's a jailable offense for you to root against a Candian-based team in the playoffs. :D

Unless you live in Windsor then it's allowed for you to cheer for the Wings.

That's a valid point. No self-respecting Windsorite would be caught dead rooting for the Maple Leafs. :D

2. Don't ever count out the defending stanley cup champions. Even when it's Tampa Bay...
3. No winner of the President's Trophy ever wins the Stanely Cup.

Dallas won the Presidents Trophy and the Stanley Cup in the 1998/1999 season.
Colorado did it in the 2000/2001 Season
Detroit did it in the 2001/2002 Season

If you rooted for another team besides the Wings you might just be banned from Windsor :p Some of my canadian co-workers are more die-hard Wings fans than I am. Gotta love working a job where half the workforce is black, a quarter is white canadian and the other quarter is white american. Makes for some interesting sports discussion

The Flames were the last team from Canada that won it in 1989.

The Red Wings were the last President's Cup winners to win the cup, in 2002.

Um, the Oilers in 30 and Montreal in 93?

Go Sens!

You're right. Roloson won all 4.

i hope they pull Hockey from the US. It is ruining it up here where it really is loved.

PS: Detroit got 44 points from the 3 lowest rated teams. Detroit would have never gone far.
