Two text books.... $300

When that happens look for the international versions. They're exactly the same minus the ISBN.

My physics book costs $160 in the bookstore, cheapest online was $120. But I bought the international version for only $70.

I must have been the luckiest college student ever. None of my books cost more than 55-60 dollars, and most were more like 35-40 dollars. I think my most expensive book was my calculus book and it was only 60 on half.com.

I was fortunate to have a $2000 Pell grant to cover those expenses in college.

Yes that is ludicrous. No book is worth that much.

textbooks for 18credits for me were $6xx.xx 🙁 Really sucks to save up a lot of money then have to spend it all on tuition, books, lsat classes, rent and food.

I remember what I paid for books at my last semester of college.

$180 for four books.

Bought them online, because for new books the school bookstore wanted $550 and used would have been $350.

Buying books online FTW.

Buy them used. A lot of books are listed on craigslist and by other students on campus.

Easier said than done if it's a new edition.

Sometimes the books will only be $5-$10 cheaper, so I'd rather buy the books locally and return them if the teacher says we won't be using them that much.

That is partly because those choosing the text books just don't give a damn. I teach part time at the college level, and when my department chooses a new text, we try to pick the best text for the price. I teach technology, and we give a danm about the students we are trying to teach. Apparently those that teach the "humanities" don't really give a danm about "humanity", but then they have tenure and don't have to.

Definatly look online. I use AddAll, which searches for the book in many online stores. It will even give you the international editions (which have a different isbn).

International Editions FTW!!!

One of my EE books costed around $160 new at the university store. Got a international edition (new as well) for around $55.

Saved around $100 on top of that for buying 2 more international edition books instead of a used regular version and about $20 more for finding a cheaper used book online (compared to the university store).

Why don't you write down the title and search the books online, then order them off of ebay or amazon.. afterwards, return the books that you purchased at the book store.

GENIUS

nothing sucks like professors putting out new versions of their text books each year. why? because they wrote them, and if they change even one page they can put out another edition and make sure they keep people from reselling used text books and garrantee their royalty flow. its sick.
