I am running Win 2000 and need some help.

1. In my dial up networking, how the heck do I setup my connection to dial even though there is no dial tone. Sometimes, if I have voicemail, my dialtone goes beep beep beep. I searched and I seached but couldn't find the check box for that.

2. You know your IE window on the top has the title of the page you are at. It also has, say for example, right now it says Post a message - AT&T Internet Explorer. How do I get rid of the AT&T Internet Explorer. Before it only used to say Microsoft Internet Explorer. It changed since I got AT&T as my ISP, which I have stopped now.

Thanks.

I didn't find that box. I have tried looking for it, but can't seem to find it. Let me try one more time.

Answer to Qustion 2:

Using Registry Editor, add a String value named Window Title to the following key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

The data value is the title you want to appear on the Internet Explorer window.

NOTE: In Windows NT, the value should be of type REG_SZ instead of String.

To Remove a Custom Internet Explorer Window Title

Using Registry Editor, delete the following value in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Window Title

When you delete this value, "Microsoft Internet Explorer" becomes the default window title.

Thanks, sciendist. Now how in the world did you know that?

Hmm, that regedit thing didn't work. Should I restart the computer? I closed the browser and opened a new one and that didn't change anything.

Thanks for the full detailed description.

Ok.. first one..
go to control panel... phone and modem options... modems tab... select ya modem, go properties.. uncheck the box "wait for dialtone before dialing"
second one, yeah i'd say reinstall ie
there is somehow you can change it, but i cant remember, but there are tools on an ie resource kit or something along those lines.

sciensdiet, that didn't work man. It still says AT&T Internet Explorer.

I've got a screenie of the registry. Can I ICQ it to you for you to look at?
