Two questions about Vista install/activation

Recently I bought a laptop with Vista Home Premium which I barely used before removing and putting on Windows 7. So basically the licence of Home Premium is currently being unused. Now is it possible for me to use that licence/key on another machine of mine? Firstly, is that legal? Secondaly, would the activation work?

My second question is since it didn't come with a disc (just a partition) can I use my Vista Ultimate cd (from my main pc) to install Vista Premium (i seem to recall ultimate lets you choose which version....maybe I'm deluded?)

Uhh it's legal enough. You won't run into any problems. Only thing would be is if MS knocked on your door and wanted to see the COA affixed to your case, but that won't happen.

I used Vista x64 HP Upgrade, (OEM) installed multiple times on the same machine, they didnt care I told them I upgraded my HD, changed Mobo, all of which was actually true, so re activating an OEM isnt too much of a problem, except maybe going from a laptop to a desktop but I don't think they can tell.

Overall your best bet would be to look at FS/FT forum rules regarding OEM sales. The same 'rules' should go for activation.
