Two probalems with my NF7-S and mobile XP 2400+

One, Win Xp calls it "unknown processor", I have the latest bios according to the Abit utility.

Two, I bought PC3200 memory to do 200Mhz x 9, for 1800Mhz, But when I set it for that, the MB beeps and never post. I then set it to 180Mhz x 10 and it works fine. Any ideas?

Be sure the timings are correct for your ram. It might be 3200 speed ram but only at CAS 2.5 or 3.0. Also most Nforce2 boards do not like CAS 3.0. I just had two NF7-S boards. One topped out at 210fsb and the other at 215fsb. Right now I have a DFI Infinity but I have not tried higher than 209fsb yet. You might want to increase the voltage of the ram. You can try another slot too.

No idea what the timings are, what is the safe settings? I don't care about overclocking, just want to get as close to the specc'ed 200Mhz as I can. Thanks.

The safe settings are CAS 3. Try 11-3-3-2.
