I remember that morning pretty well. I was a bit late coming into class, 5 minutes or so, then heard that some plane went down, didn't put much thought to it. Awhile later realized that students weren't working and teacher was walking in and out. Curious, I went to see what the fuzz is about, assuming it was just another local private plane that went down in the farm or something. Went out to the hall, saw over 50 people gathered at front office where a TV was. Soon as I saw the towers, I started to feel as if I were in a dream. Saw the 2nd plane hit, not the first one, and saw both towers tumble to the floor :(

We all went home early that morning. Stuck to the TV for the next couple days. 9/11 is a day I'm sure many of us will forever remember.

I hope today will pass us by very peacefully.

You know, I don't think I will be watching any TV today. The scars still there from last year watching Tower 1 collapsing live on TV, before my eyes, and remember thinking "there are people still in there!!! they are dying right before me and there is nothing I can do to help them!" It's the worst feeling in the world. Few days from now, when I take the Oath and become a US citizen I will be thinking about all those people, and I will thank them as I have thanked all those who died for this country, so that the rest of us can call the United States of America our home.

I remember coming home from school and my parents were home...what a relief they didn't go into work.
I remember turning on CNN and seeing endless replays of mass destruction.
I remember crying with my friends thinking/talking about it.
I remember 9-11 like it was yesterday.

it is truly amazing that it has been one year. I still get angry reading some of the responses by a few European members.

Man, I still remember getting those chills around 8:55 to 9:00 just watching the TV in my Network Admin's room. I am going to that room this morning at the same time in a few minutes. God this is gonna be scary if something happens today. :(

I remember at one point NBC saying there were 8 or 9 planes possibly hijacked...That was a very scary morning.

I found out at AT. Here, that thread. I thought it was a prank, until I read on. Then, my mate ICQ'ed me, 'Watch Channel 2' (we live in Australia). It was 9pm. Then it all went to sh|t.

I woke up this morning and remembered where I was when this all went down. I first found out while reading that thread. I actually had three posts on the first page...how weird to see that now.

AFAIK, they can't do that, since the threads are archived. They could sticky this thread though. :)

I was just reading all those archived threads from that morning. They grew very large, very fast. I couldn't help but scroll through em. It's chilling... still hasn't sunk in I guess.

For every American that dies for this, I'd say we should kill about 1000 Fundamentalist muslums. note that I said fundamentalist, not normal muslums. The fundies are the ones that do all the terrorist crap.

It's time to make a lesson to the world about what the USA can do when it gets Pissed Off.

Did LanEvoVI's friend survive?
OH MY GOD...what a way to wake up. I live one block from the World Trade Center and I'm watching things from my window. This is absolutely nutz...I watched the second plane hit up live. No word from my roomate who works inside the WTC...omg...this is so terrible...

My first post was at 9:25am that morning.

MurpheyRulez announces attack on Pentagon:
Dude says explosion at the Pentagon, construction workers are running away from the building...

Almostmakingit announces collapse of tower 1:
World Trade center starting to crumble...

zsir announces collapse of tower 2:
OMG...........The second tower just collapsed.....

What a chilling and tearful trip down memory lane. May that thread be preserved forever!

LanEvoVI's friend was ok i dont think he went in to work that day, or he went in late...what a relief

Interesting to hear about all the rumors (State department bombing, 8 planes being hijacked). Congrats to LordJezo for being first!

This is definitely a thread that should be preserved. Will be very interesting in years to come, for people too young to remember the fear, panic, and confusion. It's like a snapshot in time. It reveals even more than the horrific images of the planes crashing.

One interesting post I read, posted by Triumph:
"Funny that they would choose to hit the WTC with some planes. Those buildings were designed to withstand an impact of a 747. So if they were looking to completely take out the buildings, it would never have happened."
If he only knew then...

9/11 changed my life, the whole thing was just unreal.

And I too first heard about it here on AnandTech, didn't believe it at first, until I turned on CNN.

:(
