Are there any cell phone services that allow the user to have more than one number ring to that phone? For example, one number for personal calls and the other for business calls.

I called Radio Shack and they had absolutely idea if this is possible or even why a person would want it.

Thanks.

I used to have a Motorola that supported 2 lines, which I'm sure that wasn't the first or last. So if a phone can support 2 phone lines I don't know why the carrier wouldn't. I'd get in touch with your provider first hand or go to a retail store to ask.

Call forwading would work right? For example a personal phone that automatically forwaded calls to your cell phone? Just a thought.

If I did that, then people calling my personal cell phone would get the voicemail of my business cell phone.

there are china made gsm cellphones that can accomodate 2 sim cards at once and they can be on line at the same time. but you should be careful in choosing this because they don't have aftermarket support and its quiet unstable for a phone.

Basically its more of like a pda phone since it has a PIM, Media PLayer, TV, MP3 player and oh two phone lines...

Thanks hightekkie. I have read about these dualsim/twinsim phones. If I can get ahold of one, is it legal to use in the United States?

Most CDMA phones support dual NAMs, but I think you would have to have diffrent carriers for each line, as a single carrier wouldnt activate two numbers with the same esn. Also, they couldnt be on simultainiously (I believe this is the same with the dual sim phones). You either have to have nam1 or nam2 on, cant have them both.

If you have a GSM phone with a SIM card slot, you can get two numbers by changing SIM cards. That's what my bro does, especially when travelling in Europe.

This explains SIM cards. Essentially, each SIM card configures a single subscriber and phone number. A second SIMcard provides for another subscribber, number, etc.

Thanks for the link.

I'm mostly trying to figure out how a dualsim/twinsim card fits into a mobile phone and how you can use your one phone to make calls from (and receive calls to) a different number.
