So what are y’all takes on giving kids hormone therapy or surgery? If that’s just "Johnny was going through a phase" it’s basically guaranteed suicide when they’re older. Once that bridge is crossed there’s no going back. Even if some kids need it the chance of getting it wrong is high and there’s no do overs, that’s it. And these parents pushing it on younger and younger kids like the parents of Desmond is Amazing should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. An 8 year old doesn’t know much about themselves or the world. Definitely not know they are a transgender drag queen. It seems even if some is real a lot is fad, and this fad is fraught with very permanent consequences and we’re going to wake up as a society a decade from now with lots of dead bodies from whoopsies.

I don’t post in your threads constantly cursing and calling you ignorant and "concerned" and piss off. Doing so only shows ignorance and childishness to be honest. I’d love to engage you in a conversation but it doesn’t seem some of you are here for that.

Medication is available that pauses the clock on puberty, giving a child more years to mature and more time to consider the decision before committing to it fully.
 
It's one thing to talk about kids, but you're going with stats for high schoolers. For the record, I don't think the development of children should be influenced one way or the other. Shit, when I was a teenager in high school I was secure in being a guy interested in girls. I didn't catch any flak for that, because that was what was expected. We need to realize, that what is expected ... isn't what everyone wants. There isn't any shame in that. I will agree on one point, I don't like trying to influence it when they are younger, but when you bring stats about high school... fuck of with that. That's weak. And I mean ... Jesus Fucking God Damn Christ. Are we really going to blame people for their reactions to bigots thinking they are less than people? Get the fucking ever loving fuck out of there with that weak ass bullshit, you god damned weak minded fool. You shame your family.

That sounds risky in and or itself. Does such thing honestly really exist and what are the side effects? I would think getting through puberty and entering adulthood is necessary too to really know oneself.

It's actually far more than a mere fad, the West has started getting to grips with the fact that there are individuals within the population that have a brain that belongs to one gender, and a body to another. This biological disparity manifests as clinically significant stress, which is categorized as gender dysphoria, which is also greatly exacerbated by the persecution these individuals undergo.

Furthermore, during a visual/spatial memory exercise, the adolescent girls showed a male-typical brain activation pattern. We can tell right away that this is not mental illness. Mental illness is when the biological function of the brain is impaired, to the point that it affects cognitive function and/or behaviour. There is no impairment, the brain is fine. It is just mismatched with the sex of the individual's body.

There was also the mentioning of Transgenders being exceedingly predisposed to suicide. This isn't due to them resolving their gender dysphoria. Rather, it's entirely due to the persecution they undergo, which we can draw a direct parallel from the treatment of Native Americans, a population that also undergoes horrific rates of abuse and persecution, which results in an extremely high suicide rate.

Don't know much about the subject, but I consider transgender the same as race or skin color or eye color i.e. at birth and not optional or correctable.
I don't mean one can not have sex reassignment surgery, I'm saying the sexual orientation is built in and part of ones DNA. Surgery is only an attempt to align the physical with ones reality.
And I consider transgender in the category as heterosexuality. Straight people.
Where homosexual is totally a different matter.
I'm surprised that transgender folks are not more openly accepted than homosexuality.
Especially in the military or by religious organizations and especially hard core religious right winged fanatics. After all, transgender folks are more like heterosexuals than they are homosexuals.
Transgender folks only relate to homosexuals because both groups are misunderstood and often despised. So they are lumped under the same category, which is unfair.
The transgendered are in fact straight people. Just like you Donald Trump.
So why the transgendered are treated as they are is pretty weird in itself.
And religion often uses biblical scripture to demonize homosexuals where as the bible says nothing concerning demonizing a birth defect, as it were.
Life is strange.
Add in a dose of religion and life can get royally screwed up, by others.
Being transgender should be a totally natural occurrence, rare but totally natural.
Adding in religious objection only creates misunderstanding, bigotry, hatred, and just plain ignorance of the subject.
Being transgender is far misunderstood by the general public, but thats the problem of society not of the transgendered.
 
Your insults aside, even if this is true are there scientifically sound tests that have a 100% or damned close to it success rate for diagnosis? Before messing with Mother Nature and doing irreversable changes to these kids we had better be damned sure that’s what’s necessary.

If it helps some people then great. But if some kid was just going through a phase (kids are basketcases) then yeah it would be damage, bad damage. There’s no waking up from that, growing out of it. What’s done is absolutely permanently done and they’ll have to be forced to live with that decision for the rest of their life. That’s an enormous risk.
