two PCs with one set of speakers?

I've got two PCs hooked up to a KVM switch and was wondering if anyone has hooked up to PCs to one set of speakers? I figured Radio Shack would have some sort of Stereo Y-cable that might work for this. I know I'd have to keep the volume fairly equal on each PC to avoid any huge volume changes. Any problems with doing this?

Thanks!

It would work best obviously if the sound was only on on one machine at time but I don't see any problems with doing it...

Yeah, I wouldn't be playing sounds at the same time on both PCs. I just didn't really want to have to get another set of speakers.

Thanks!

my yamaha 2.1's have 2 input ports, it works fine but lowers the volume. depends on the speakers you're using. I usually use a receiver and switch inputs on there (but you cant use both at the same time) that's why i love my yamaha setup 🙂 as for splitting, i believe that should work but you'll notice a drop in volume and or sound quality probably.
