With all of the discussion about the electoral college going on, what about the two-party system?

I like it. It insures at least close to a majority. If we had another type of system, then we would have presidents elected with 20% of the votes. Revolution will soon follow.

Weren't the founding fathers wonderful?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but....
We have a two party system because there are two dominant parties, not because the founding father dictated it. There are some benefits to the two party system like you pointed out, but there are alot of drawbacks too.

I'm pretty sure the founding fathers were AGAINST separate parties forming.

I think George Washington was specifically worried about it. Thought it would tear the nation in two.

Personally, I think it works somewhat. Now if we could just get the Libertarians to be one of the major two parties... :)
