Ok, on Thursday, April 22 I got a parking ticket for expired registration for $25.00, then 5 days later on Tuesday, April 27th I got ANOTHER one for the same violation, WTF? The DMV is closed on weekends and I have been too busy on the weekdays to wait in line for hours to fix this. Anyways, why can't they give me at LEAST 7 business days to fix this problem? I mean damn, its like when I want the government to do something for me it can take months, but when the government wants me to do something it is within 2-3 days or else?!

bla bla bla.... you had time to get it fixed and now want to blame somebody.

Get to the DMV 1/2 hour before it opens and be first. Easy as done.

Uh, dude, I had Friday, Monday and today.

Let's see, Friday I had a study session with my friend that I scheduled way in advance, Monday my dad had to take my car because his is in the shop, today I was in class all day.

Three business days to get this fixed is HARDLY enough time for anyone who has a damn life.

Oh Happy, I haven't heard that quote in a long time! Great post! :D

BTW, Diss, I'd imagine you had plenty of time to renew the registration. You were just hoping you wouldn't get caught.

Then again, based upon your post, if you're too busy to take care of registration for your vehicle, maybe you shouldn't be operating it. :)

I can see it now...."I'm sorry Judge, I had a study session scheduled with a friend. There was no way for me to renew my registration because of it. And my Dad who....."

Judge - "Pay the fine. Next!"

How would they know that you had already gotten a ticket for the same violation?

Uh, the car is actually in my mom's name which means that the registration crap would have been mailed to her. I didn't hear or see anything about it. It's not my fault.

I assume they have a damn computer database or something. I mean all the money they are extracting from law abiding citizens, their bureaucracy hell hole should be decked out.

And I guess you never saw the sticker on the car that said registration was due <insert month/year here>.

Even worse that you can't keep up with the responsibilities on a vehicle you're driving.

tickets are just tickets. they're not going to cross reference it and see if you've been cited for it before. if its wrong one time, and its wrong again, you're going to get cited again.

moving on, how expired is your registration? if its late april, and you're getting cited now, that means your car is probably sporting march tags. at the earliest. sensible people would have gone in early march "oh man i need to pay the registration!" or face the ticket king.

EDIT: do you have triple a? do your parents? do you know you can go to triple a and pay your registration there and get your tags right there along with the paperwork? since it's under your mom's name, your mom would have to have triple a also before you can pay for it (oh and they verify... i stood around waiting for them to verify...)

They may let you off the tickets if you take care of the registration, but they will probably hit you up for a late fee.

I got two tickets on the same day :( I was actually on my way to get an inspection, parked my car to get a cup of coffee (left the ticket exposed) and got a 2nd one!

Not sure about CA, but this is what I would suggest for TN

get your registration taken care of asap
go to court, take both tickets with you
explain what happened to the judge
watch both tickets get tossed out.

Who the hell are you? Some damn meter maid?

No, I'm not a meter maid. But I DO manage to take care of important things, like, oh... RENEWING MY REGISTRATION ON TIME. And I stopped relying on mommy to do things for me a long time ago. Maybe you should do the same?

Feb. is the sticker on the plate. I know, I know, I should have seen this coming, but to be honest I don't look at my license plate all the time.

Yeah, I have triple A. I just might do that. Thanks for the advice.

First of all, I paid for most of the car, my mom just helped me out. Second of all if I had gotten the damn papers I WOULD have taken care of it, but I didn't. Third of all, you are NOT helping so just get out of the damn thread.
