sorry...but i am excited because i didnt know those games yet and just started to play:

(*) Spellforce2: Shadow Wars
Is an outstanding RPG with strategy elements...i cant get over how good this game is...it has some old-school RPG elements which i like, excellent graphics (brings even my system down)...and an unbelievable soundtrack, multiplayer, etc..etc..etc.. Very refreshing because it's different than the 100th "first person" wannabe-RPG like "Dark Messiah of Might and Magic". I just didnt get an RPG feel with the latter but with Spellforce2 everything is perfect :)

If you're into RPG you have to get this !

and

(*) Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

For adventure freaks who are NOT afraid of LENGTHY dialoges and a DEEP and involving story. Graphics are great, get even BETTER deeper in the game...story is incredible too. You can relax and sit back and play that thing with a joypad :)

Those two games are outstanding and MAYBE some people dont know about them. (?!)

Add: Yes, there are day/night cycles ! :)

Edit2: This game is HEAVY on resources,
i have usually FPS in the 30s with 1280x1024, 4xAA, 16xAF and everything at max excet "shadows" which i have on "high".
But it is still very playable - the low FPS dont affect gameplay at all.

Are the puzzles any more sensible in Dreamfall than in the original?

The first one had many bad puzzles (use a rubber duck to get an electrified key?) and I never got around to finishing it, but it was still somewhat enjoyable even as a walkthrough-driven movie because of the graphics.

the puzzles are ..ugh...."dumb"..to say the least. Basically puzzles just for the "puzzles sake"...eg. opening/circumventing locks by matching symbols on a cell-phone....or playing a melody pressing buttons to open a door...etc.... but it still makes a great atmospeheric game.

I am especially amazed (i GUESS i might be 30% or so in the game...maybe earlier...) graphics are "above average" in the beginning of the game but become exceptionally nice now. Eg. (SPOILER, SPOILER) when she travels to venice and the first time she wakes up in the parallel world.

i was almost fooled into thinking those were SS of guild wars lol Looks like both games use alot of that heavy bloom effect, looks pretty good actually. Ill have to look into it, i love the rts / rpg aspect combined into a game.

I don't think you can even call them puzzles ahah... the only one I had trouble with was the tone one because I didn't pay attention to the original tones and I found no way to replay it except to reload the game.. but I found it very enjoyable for other qualities

and yes I agree the graphics become stunning at that part

Is this single player? I've been looking for a good SP RPG for some time.

You can play SP campaign and also have mutiple options for multiplayer.

Edit: I am playing both games right now...still torn because both are absolute outstanding.

Graphics in Dreamfall also become absolute amazing now... also...if you have an ATI card (like me) you can force "Anisotropic filtering 16x" in the driver-control panel (because the game doesn't do that for default) and the gfx get even better.

Also amazed at the fantastic speed/framerates i get in Dreamfall...ok it's "only" an adventure and not THAT action-oriented [there are some fighting scenes tho]...but it feels very "console" like - fast and smooth for the fantasic 3D graphics it has. Outstanding.

Also...regarding Spellforce...i think alone the soundtrack is worth buying this game...

I haven't played the first game but am tempted to buy Dreamfall just because it's an adventure game. You don't see many of those these days.

nope...but be warned...you REALLY have to be willing to sit back and basically get involved in the story, there is not too much interaction and the game is easy and not really challenging. But, as most other reviews also say, despite this, this game is still oustanding. Just know what you're in for.
Another adventure i hear/read VERY good things about is "Indigo Prophecy" (EU title "Fahrenheit") which is supposed to be even a notch better. This will be next :)
