I do not think Iran's government is responsible but I also am not on the conspiracy train.

Iran made a stupid move shooting down our drone weather it was in international airspace or not.
They would have been much further ahead to make a media show out of it for the world to see, pictures and maps of it spying on them. where it went, what it saw. the world would loose even more respect for the current pres and it would have given them way more leverage on the world stage.

Yeh, sneaking up to the side of a ship in a foreign harbor & using a (loud!) ramset to mount a limpet mine totally makes sense. Especially when the magnets are so super strong. And the other 5 magnets could be pried loose w/o leaving a scratch. Gimme a break. Whatever kind of metal that was behind the magnet supposedly recovered was substantial. It's at least 1/8" thick with a 1/2"x3/4" bar across the back of it.

And it's funny how the imagery is sharp when CENTCOM wants it to be that way & nicely blurry when they don't. The shot of the damage & the mysterious triangular shape further down the hull is a dandy, don't you think? If there really were something there we'd have 25 8x10 color glossy color photos from the Bainbridge verifying it. There was absolutely nothing preventing them from obtaining solid documentation instead of the bullshit we've been getting.

Not to mention that it's brought to us by the same Neocon assholes who brought us Iraqi WMD's. It's all bullshit of the war mongering variety.

everyone is spying on everyone else, we just have, in general, more resources.

Whats the "but" ? i'm not agreeing with us "being there" just pointing out that it was a stupid move. cant hit undo during a game of chess, you take what you have and make the best of it.
 
Well glad to see Trump didn't escalate the situation. Claims that he believes the shooting down of the drone was not intentional.

That's usually how it is. Those anti aircraft missiles have a nasty habit of launching on their own and automatically targeting enemy aircraft.

Kudos to our allies, who are making it abundantly clear that Trump has no foreign policy credibility and that they are interesting in facts, not fear mongering.

I'm not sure what the motivation of this post was, but I was happy that he didn't ignore everyone in the room and push for conflict. I in no way was saying 'yay trump saved the day'. Be thankful for small victories, even if they were directed from Russia.
 
I bet he will launch tomahawks tonight at random targets in Iran then say "Do it again and we'll do that again". Like he did with the alleged chemical weapons incidents in Syria.

Oh believe me, as an American, I'm thankful of trumps complete incompetence and inability to handle any issue. His ability to fuck things up and somehow get us back to before he fucked things up is a thing of wonder!
