My thought would be that Iran would be signaling its capabilities to impact shipping in a strategically vital area to the US.

That's basically a wild-ass guess though.

So for that theory to be correct wouldnt they need to take responsibility for the attacks? That way people would know not to mess with them? (if that is in fact the strat)

Let's see, it is said a United States ship just happened to be in the area.

We saved the sailors.

We can be the hero. We can also the one who created a false flag. Win/Win Win/WIn !

Amazing if anybody buys this.

America did it... Alone or with the help of Israel or UAE or Saudi Arabia. Do they really think we're buying their bullshit anymore? This isn't 1964 anymore, the people are smarter. 🙂 Beware Government. You will awaken the people. We've been in our slumber watching football for decades, but times are changing.

They would know our intelligence would find out. But I think it's highly unlikely to be Iran. There are a lot of actors chomping at the bit to get a war with Iran.

what is the upside for saudi arabia to prempt these attacks?

Iran and Saudi Arabia have been enemies in an oil economic war for a decade or longer at this point. Both competing to sell their oil. Saudi's have been in bed with Kushner. Why is this confusing?

its not confusing. I was asking questions I had answers to. Im talking about game thoery. Who is the winner and who is loser from this?

Sure but by denying you did it then you are denying you have that power that you just presented to the world. Does that make sense? Im not saying iran would think they could attack ships and it would be positive for them but if that theory held then it also holds that they should take responsibility for the attacks or else its only a risk.

I repeat: what possible motive would Iran have to do this?

I’m willing to entertain all possibilities within the first 48 hours of breaking news, or until a veritable truth is established. Not really my place to say whether Iran is or isn’t involved in these attacks...I was just pointing out that the crew are in their custody, so let’s see how quickly they get to go home.

While I’m entertaining all possibilities, is it mere coincidence that SHS is now leaving the administration? Maybe she draws the line at lying about acts of war.

Hahahaha

Major upside for Saudi Arabia. Trump has been itching to start war with Iran, this incident just gave him another reason to do so. Israel has much to gain with this as well as they are pretty much at war with Iran at this point, having bombed their military assets in Syria repeatedly while Iran continues to supply Hezbollah with arms to attack Israel. Very hard to believe Iran being the cause of this but could easily see Saudi Arabia or Israel trying to frame them. US is most likely involved so they can start pounding Iran with cruise missiles, air strikes, drone strikes, possibly even strikes from our fleet and eventually boots on the ground. Huge money to be made if a war happens and Trump becomes a war time president.

No, taking direct responsibility for the attacks would probably demand a response. If this were the case it would be one of those things where they want us to know but not come straight out and say it.

so then they would want to frame it on another country?

Assuming they did this no, they wouldn’t want to frame anyone else either.

It’s one of those things where they are basically saying ‘you know I did it, I know I did it, so don’t fuck with me’, while denying it publicly.

Again, if they come out and take credit then that basically demands a response that would escalate the situation and their goals here would probably be to de-escalate.

Again though I have no idea who was behind this. If it was Iran though they would almost certainly not take credit.

Pompeo says it definitely was Iran.

To say this administration's credibility is so thin as to be invisible would be too generous.
