The 'Hidden' Internet
How to Use the 'Hidden Internet'
Now then, not to defend Bush - But there are entire Internet Communities that are hidden and
just not accessible to the general public. Access is strictly controlled on a 'Need to Know' basis.
Military and Defense industry has it's own system, that while it may be hacked into, it's generally
secure. NASA & Space has it's own branch within that, and allows very limited outside access.
The Educational and Scholastic Sector has it's portion, where the basis for HTML & XML originated.
Don't forget about the one that Gore personally developed, or actually helped to gain funding
for, that was developed for the military originally - to share data with the various service branches
and with the Government. This is the one that has evolved into what we all use today and take
for granted as being 'The Internet'.
The Military has it's own exclusive 'Internet', and it was used to conduct the war in Iraq - both times.
The Missle Defense used it to observe Scud launches and guide Patriot Missle intercepts, the Armoured forces used it to target and destroy the enemey equipment in Gulf-I. We use it today to fly and observe activities with the Predator drones, and to co-ordinate ground and air activities in the combat theater to keep the Army, Marine, Navy, and Air Forces informed on each others position in 'Real Time' and to track, follow, set precedent, and destroy air and ground targets as situations evolve in the combat theatre.
There really is a 'Second' internet out there, and a 'Third' even a 'Fourth' -
You just can't get there from here.
