I have a 80 gigger and a 14 gig, i want to assign C: to the 80 gig but it always assigns it F: or some other drive.
I'm using Windows XP, the 80 is a Maxtor and the 14 is an IBM.

how do i do this??

control panel/administrative tools computermangaement
click on the disk managment on the left side, you can change everything from there

one other thing, are you wanting to boot from the new drive? if so, it's a little more complicated... yu need to either install XP on the new drive, or copy the contents of the original drive to the new one (cant jsut copy and paste, you'll need to format (erase everything) the new drive than copy the entire image of the smaller drive using the disk management)

Is your Maxtor 80GB the one on which Windows is installed? If it is, its first partition should already be C. Anyway:

start-->settings-->control panel-->administrative tools-->computer management-->disk management.

What are your IDE channel placements? For instance, is the 80GB the primary master device? If not, it may not ever get the C: designation that way.
