What about 1 4850x2 for $215? Nice deal, OP!

Uses more power ,runs hotter, and won't overclock nearly as much.

If you overclock the 5770's they will be close in performance to a gtx 295.
And they overclock great!

just to clarify:

unless you're playing crysis
http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-5770-review-test/18
then 5770 crossfire = 5850 single

but yah for a lot of the other games 5770 > 5850

for example, in HAWX, crossfire 5770 is > 5870

did you mean 5770 crossfire = 5870? in your review link, the 5870 was clearly superior to 5770 Xfire in Crysis, but in all other games, 5770 Xfire was equal to the 5870 or better.

edit: nm understand your post now

How much difference in power consumption would you be looking at between 5770x2 vs. 5850?

so whats the better deal, 2 5770's for 288 or one 5850 for 269.99?

5770 Xfire for sure. Unless you will be primarily playing Crysis, but who does that?? In most cases the Xfire 5770 will be much better than the single 5850 and likely more comparable to a single 5870 if not better. Sorry for the confusion in my post earlier. clarified it now

Sorely tempted! But i'm considering getting a bigger HTPC case for a 5850.

BTW: It's sad that since october prices on these cards have not gone down very much. Nvidia needs to get its act together :(
