Two eVGA 6600gts or one eVGA 6800GT?

IF I get the one 6800gt, Ill prolly buy another one when it drops to like 200~. Its 400 w/free doom 3 on Newegg. which is the better buy? The 6600GTs are about $280. Which would be betteR?

lol. oops, i just noticed the 6800gt was an AGP one. The PCI-e one is like 500 (and soldd out). Looks like its gonna be the 6600gts... unless someone has suggestions...

right before you posted that i was gonna comment on how 2 6600gts would be a better buy since the 6800gt pcie cards are nearly impossible to find at a price below $450.

if you want 6800gt level performance now, the 2 6600gt's are better, pricewise.

Have you considered two 6800 standards? You can get the MSI PCIe 6800 standard from Newegg, and the Leadtek PCIe 6800 standard model should be coming around some time soon. Since they have a 256MB frame buffer they're a little more than the 128MB AGP variants. Still, two of them should definitely outperform one 6800 GT. Thus, you could just get a single PCIe 6800 standard for now and then buy another later.

they're more expensive with little to no performance increase over the the 6600gt.

Really? I thought their 256-bit memory interface would definitely increase performance at higher resolutions and with AA & AF. Since I haven't actually seen reviews for the cards, I was basing my opinion on the AGP variants. I figured two SLI'd would at least outperform a single 6800 GT. Is this incorrect, or has anyone seen a review/benchmark to the contrary?
