Two Dell Latitude laptops fail Intel diagnostic at same point

I have two older Latitude laptops that are failing the Intel process diagnostic tool, IPDT, at exactly the same place. IMC failure. these are old sandy bridge and ivy bridge laptops. windows 7 64 bit

they do pass memtest


anyone aware of software glitches in the IPDT?

I might add that windows pops up a message that the program has stopped working,
leading me to believe there are driver problems
