Ok, I have 4 hard drives now and a CD-Rom drive, and I like having everything on its own channel. Prior to getting my most recent HDD (the 200 GB Dell HDD), I had 2 Maxtor HDDs on a Maxtor ATA133 Controller Card, my primary HDD connected to Primary on the MB, and my CD-RW on the Secondary for the MB. Now when I plug in the ATA100 Controller card that came w/ the WD HDD, it can detect it just fine, and it'll boot into Windows so long as no HDD is connected to it. However, when I connect the HDD to it, it doesn't get to starting W2k. I have an Asus P4B533-V, so it sometimes will say "Computer now booting from Operating System", but it'll never show me the black and white booting screen that u see with W2k. I reluctantly connected it as a slave on the ATA133 controller card with no problem. Am I not allowed to have two controller cards? Or am I still messing up w/ my jumpers on the new HDD somehow? With the ATA133 card and my Maxtor HDDs, it was picky about what jumper settings I used, but its weird because the controller card's BIOS detects the WD HDD as Master.
Misc. info.:
ATA100 card is directly above the ATA133 card.
ATA100 card has a WD200JBRTL (well, ideally as Master, only works when HDD is slave on ATA133 card)
ATA133 card has a Maxtor 80 and Maxtor 120, both 8 MB buffers, both Master on their separate channels.
Think that's all the important info? If somehow I figure this out by luck tinkering, I'll post, but any suggestions will help greatly!
